Important phase of our draft process this year.'
Who do you take with our picks and justify why.
Seeing that is almost consensus we want either Mayo or Bayless Our roster would stand as follows
(Bayless/Mayo)/Rid/Watson
Durant/Wilkens
Green/Wilkens
Wilcox/Collison
Petro/Sene
I think we need an upgrade at the 2/3 and center position.
#24 So I would go for Douglas Roberts if he is still avaliable at the 24th pick or take a chance on Robin Lopez for some good energy defense when collison is out. I'd also look at Donte Green for some bench scoring, but the guy seems really selfish and uncommitted to D.
I dont see many good options at the #32 pick, and frankly I dont like all the Power forward prospects stacked that late in the draft. I'd either trade it for another year, or package it with our first to try to secure a solid player.
At #46 I see Bill Walker as a great prospect, as a once promised bonified star this guy seems like the perfect 6th man after injury.
As for the #50 and #56 I like Gary Forbes and David Padgett
So I would have a roster as follows:
(Bayless/Mayo)/Watson/Ridinour
Durant/Douglas Roberts/Walker
Green/Walker/Forbes
Collison/Wilcox
Petro/Sene/Padgett
or
(Bayless/Mayo)/Watson/Ridinour
Durant/Walker/Wilkens
Green/Walker/Forbes/Wilkens
Collison/Wilcox
Petro/Lopez/Sene/Padgett

For me, we need 1 PG to become the starter, and 1 guard prospect who is versitale can defend and hit the 3. We also need a center. lucky for us we have 3 picks in the top 32.
Not sure atm who exactly we should pick, but we have time to look through each prospect thoroughly.

Let's see...
24th - CDR/Hibbert/Lopez/Rush
32th - Weaver
I like Lee and Dorsey, but I'd rather have Weaver.

Wow, I just wrote out a whole post and somehow deleted it, here it is again from memory.
I'm feeling like it's more and more likely that a scenario will play out with us selecting Mayo and dealing him after the draft to the Heat packaged with Wilcox in exchange for Beasley and bad contracts. The Heat could then turn around and deal Haslem to the Raps or Magic who've been after him for years.
If this doesn't play out my preference at 4 is Mayo because despite the compelling arguments of Wiff I still think he's the better choice because of the hype machine (great for attracting attention to our situation and even better if he speaks in Seattle's favor).
If the Heat deal does play out I take the best available SG at 24. My order is:
CDR
Budinger (if he slips)
Courtney Lee (although I base all my knowledge on this guy on write-ups)
Brandon Rush (All the other Rushes were busts, why should this guy be different?)
My reasoning here is that since we deal Wilcox we need to move Durant and Green up to the 3 and 4 respectively as soon as possible. Also I don't think there's any first round talent left at PG by 24. This is a really weak PG class.
If it doesn't go through I take a C. Order:
McGee
Hibbert
Ajinca
Lopez
This is because after PG our biggest need is at C. We hold on to Wilcox until the deadline and deal him for a PG.
At 32 there's unlimited possibilities but I'd take a flier on a PG. I don't know anything about Lester Hudson except his gaudy stats and a few writeups. The reason he won't be a first rounder is that he has a PG body and SG skills. He needs to improve his handles. Give him a shot if he looks good in workouts (we already invited him) and see if he can develop that aspect of his game. If not then I think we take Giddens because he's from OKC.
The lower picks I haven't put much thought into. Weaver if he slips?
Edit: I'm positive some of our 2nd rounders will be traded for nothing.

We need to try and get Pekovic. Id take a shot at CDR at #24 I think he could turn into a huge steal in the draft.

if Batum or Budinger is still around at 24 draft them. Just go for BPA like the Hawks. You will end up with more trade asset. Let's not all forget about the 2003 draft where we draft for need. He might have passed up on Barbaosa because Ridnour was more of a PG than barbosa.

I don't think we'll stay at #24, as i believe that Presti will pull off a trade to move up in the draft.
In the 2nd round i think guys that rebound and play hard(aka DJ White, Nikola Pekovic etc) would be a good choice to beef up our front court.
I'm still can't believe that Rick Sund choose Denham Brown(who got cut during training camp) over a guy like Paul Millsap two years ago, when we desperatly needed some help on the boards.

There'll be better players around at #24 and #32, then Dorsey and Weaver.
BTW: That team would win about 25 games in the west.

Koufos is another guy we should take a look at, but he's more of a shooter(Okur like) then a banger down low and his defense isn't really something to talk about.
Still, i think that he won't be available at #24, cause there are quite some teams probably needing a big in the mid 1st round and that's why i think that only guys like Roy Hibbert or maybe Jason Thompson will slip and be available at that #24 spot. Though, i believe that Presti will trade up with that pick and therefore we should be able to draft one of the big guys this year as well.

I doubt Koufos will be in this draft. He's talking about going to Europe.

I hope this is true. My dream scenario would be to move up piecemeal. Package two of the second-rounders for a late first; then combine this late first with the #24 for a mid-first; and then perhaps package that with another of the second-rounders to move into the late lottery. I can dream, can't I?

Brandon Rush would be a good choice at #24. CDR and Bill Walker would work, as well. The guards at #4 are more SG than PG, IMO. Who we take at #24 will be affected by our first choice. I would offer #4 and #24 for #1 and take Rose.

yah i wasnt sure what koufus was considered (i.e banger or finesse) but yah it was somthing i was thinking bout. From wat i have seen of him he seems like hes just offense which i really dnt think we need right now i think we need an interior defense or just any sort of defender....or somone that could with time become a good defender...but i liked ex-hippies' idea...i would like to move into the late lottery with maybe our 2nd rouders (after we trade them or if we can trade them for a late first) and our late 1st round and maybe pick up westbrook i like him.... but i think if we did get a late lottery it would be influenced by what we get in our first pick. id like to see us have a look at westbrook no matter what

In my view, Brandon Rush is not an upgrade from Damien Wilkins. Can someone who is in favor of Rush being drafted at #24 give some reasons why he would?

Bill Walker won't be there at 46. He'll move up the board a la Stuckey after workouts. I'd go for him at 24. I don't think Batum/Budinger will slip past 20.

How does everyone feel about Roy Hibbert? More and more mocks are having him available at 24. Do you guys like him more than Robin Lopez or Ajinca or Koufos?
