I was under the impression that Hinrich is a solid defenisve PG. Am I mistaken? I figure if we got Bayless he could cover for him defensively as he does with Ben Gordon in CHI.
Also even though he had a subpar season this past season, he did have a new career high in points (38) and blocks (4).
His assist numbers aren't off the charts, but he would be a great fit next to combo guards like Mayo or Bayless.
I do like how the move would move Durant and Green over, something I expected to happen this coming season even though PJ has suggested otherwise.
If we could net Thabo, I would give up Wilcox regardless of whether we draft Mayo or Bayless. Although the impression I am given regarding how high CHI is of Thabo, I find it unlikely.
I'd like to mention that if we got Hinrich and Mayo or Bayless, we'd have to get rid of Watson, there is no way he is going to be content coming off the bench.
The trade would look more like Watson+Wilcox for Hinrich+Thabo
Bayless or Mayo/Ridnour
Hinrich/Thabo/Griffin
Durant/Wilkins
Green/Marshall
Petro/Collison/Sene/Swift
The 1 and 2 positions don't really matter since they're both combo guards (at least the starters) so they could flip flop if need be.
Also a small note, he played most of his best games against our division rivals, with the exception of Portland, which he did slightly better than his season average.
Also a quick note, he did better coming off the bench this season than he did starting with respect to scoring 11.3ppg vs 15.7ppg. He has significantly better assist numbers as a starter though 6.1apg v 3.7apg.
I just noticed something else while writing this...his numbers drop of significantly as the season winded down.
Jan - 17.7ppg - 6.3apg
April - 6.4ppg - 5.1apg
There is a steady decline between those months.
