So I had a dream last night.....(insert fuzzy computer monitor here)...



There I am hanging out at a Sonics draft party with an old buddy of mine who I use to play hoops with.



And the little man behind the curtain.........



goes on to say "Seattle has traded the #4 pick for Marvin Williams, Josh Smith and Zydrunas Ilgauskas".

Yeah, yeah, yeah I know you can't trade one pick to two different teams but it was a dream (sue me). Then in my dream I got really excited about Josh Smith being on the Sonics.



I woke up.

But I got to thinking. In the same way some people wonder if Jeff Green and Kevin Durant can co-exist I have the same question about Josh Smith and Al Horford.

Horford looks to be a very promising PF. Sure he can play Center but to me he looks more of a PF. So in the same way the Sonics would have added Beasley if they had the #2 pick, they trade the #4 and parts (Wilcox? future picks?) to bring in Smith at the PF.

I'd be surprised if Atlanta views Bibby as a long term solution at PG. He's getting up there in age. Atlanta does this so they can draft Bayless and finally get that elusive PG they have been missing, who in my opinion would look great next to Joe Johnson.

After all Rick Sund is their new GM you know he'd love to have some familar faces around him .

Although it was my dream I'm not in love with the trade idea, but it does add food for thought about different possibilities the #4 pick can bring the Sonics.

Yes I also know Atlanta Hawk fan would laugh in my face. But I'm sure Rick Sund would love to put his stamp on the team. How do you like Atlanta Luke?

So how badly do you want him? Would you keep the four and trade Green and Ridnour for Smith, for example?

Well that's hard to say. I guess it depends on who is at the #4 when the Sonics pick. And secondly does Atlanta need Jeff Green when they have Marvin Williams?

We certainly would've to keep the #4 pick, as Josh Smith will be a RFA this summer and therefore only a sign and trade is a possibility, which won't include draft picks of this years draft.

Yeah, it's a tough choice. I think if Mayo was still there, it would be tempting. We would have some serious athleticism in the starting lineup.
This is no way anything against Green, by the way, its a tough choice.

I also think Green would complement someone like Williams pretty well. Atlanta would have some great Basketball IQ with Green, Johnson, and Childress in the lineup. Each are solid, all around players.

EDIT: You would have to worry about our leadership with a trade like this, though. I tend to see Green developing into the quiet leader of the Sonics.

One report was stating that the Miami Heat may want to draft Mayo instead of Beasley, but they won't draft him at #2 and could want to make a trade after the draft. Now they say that both the Timberwolves and the Supersonics don't have attractive pieces avaiable, because the Wolves aren't giving up Al Jefferson (a bona fide all-star) and the Sonics aren't giving up Jeff Green or Kevin Durant. Stating that Memphis would be the best choice, it confirms what I believe, one Green is a sopohomore this season and they want him to be the lesser point of Scottie Pippen to Durant's Jordan. They both work together well.

Can you dream about Andre Iguodala instead of Josh SMITH?

Yeah, I can dream of how Josh Smith would bring me a heart full of joy and Iguodala a feeling of emptyness.

They are both TO machines, but at least Smith gets steals and blocks.
