So the guys at Draftexpress.com are in love with Omer Asik. Could he be the guy we take early in the second round? Does anyone have some first-hand knowledge of this Turkish phenom?
"Omer Asik clearly stood out from the pack as being the most intriguing big men in attendance, almost from the very start. He had the best frame of the four (great size at a legit 7-feet, good shoulders, a solid lower body, a nice 7-2 wingspan and 9-4 standing reach) to go along with the best motor and the most athleticism of the four. He came out with a business-like mentality, dunking everything around the rim (even when it wasn

well, i watched many many games of Asik, so...
he has great size, he is a great rebounder, offensive and defensive. His biggest strenghts is his shot-blocking. He can block shots from everywhere, weak-side, his own man, cutting guards. He was not only the best shot-blocker in the turkish league, he also recorded great blocks in euroleauge against much more experienced and good players.
However he doesn't really have a jumpshot. You can see a post-move now and than, but he ain't strong enough. He needs to bulk up.

**** Asik, we need to be looking at David Padgett from Louisville, I don't think we need to draft him just add him to our Summer League team, he looks like a banger for rebounds and occassional scoring, but also a pretty good defender and damn good passer for a big man.

Thanks, Hedo05. That's just what I'm looking for. Draftexpress seems to think he has a big enough frame to add some muscle.

Thanks a lot Hedo.
If he's really a good rebounder/shot blocker then he'd be exactly what we need at the 5 spot and i wouldn't mind if we'd take him in the 2nd round.

nbadraft.net has a good video on him, his shot blocking ability is there. He looks really skinny though.
Det I'm pretty sure he'll be around in the 2nd round.

I think the question is do we take him or someone like DJ White with our first second round pick.
