Would you trade Watson?

For Marcus Banks and 52# ...I know you guys are looking to move one of Watson or Ridnour.

No, there's no reason for Seattle to do that. Watson has Positive value, Banks has negative value. The #52 isn't even close to making up the difference.

Banks has played in only half the games the last three years. He is injury prone. With a $4M annual salary guaranteed for the next three years he is not tradeable accept as a filler with a better player or a high pick.
Watson is a starting PG with pretty good numbers. While he is not Chris Paul, why should we give him away?

Why are so many people overreacting? It's not a great deal, but people were complaining about Watson quite a bit all season long...it's not like it would be a giant loss.

Because it's Marcus Banks. What team would want him? The biggest role that guy is going to play in the next few years is probably going to be contract filler in larger trades. And do the Sonics really need a dozen or so 2nd round picks?

People go back and forth with Watson. Banks is a disaster, though.

You don't just do a trade to unload a guy you feel hasn't become the franchise player you hope to have. You still have to pay the replacement, give him a roster spot and playing time. Those that want to trade Ridnour and Watson ought to look around the league and see how many franchise PG's there are. Not many! Our guys are not great but they are better than most guards in the league. Don't take a step backward to injured, overpaid guards.

Earl was top 15 in the league for point guards last year, even with the rough start to the season and the fact that he only played about 30 minutes per game - fewer than most other starters.
He is a more than capable starting point guard, and it makes absolutely no sense that people feel otherwise. If you dislike the way he plays that's your issue. But apparently the starters on 14 other teams aren't a whole lot better than him, so if he's nothing more than an overpaid backup like too many claim then there sure are a lot of those guys in the league.

You'd be paying Banks more than the min but he'd definitely be a bench player... a deep deep bench player.

Banks total salary left in his contract is $13.38m:
S4.17m for '08-'09 season; $4.46m for '09-'10; $4.75m for '10-'11
Watson total salary left in his contract is $12.8m
$6.2m for '08-'09 and $6.6m for '09-'10 season
The difference in salary is just around $.5m but Banks has a more than a year left.
Fans doesn't care about the money because they're not the one paying and sometimes fans doesn't know why a team sell their draft picks for cash. A lot of owners value money and if the Heat will add some cash with Banks, its possible.
How about Banks, cash and a 2nd rnd pick?
The cash compensate the difference in salaries and the Sonics has along term back up pg in 3 years than 2 years only. . . For the Heat its about their cap space and I think they will do it, unless Marion is extended and Riley forgo the cap space for 2010.

Banks < Watson by a long shot
Cash can compensate the difference in the salaries...but I don't believe the 2nd rounder can compensate for the difference in ability.

Here's the deal. I'll quit riding you, at least until I come across a
different obnoxiously arrogant post of yours, if you'll explain, no let's say admit, to all your fans why that third year of Banks' crap contract sucks so bad. And we're not even talking about how lousy Banks is compared to Watson.
