The Clippers rumor

So there's an interesting rumor on the hoopshype board having us swap picks with the Clippers to take Westbrook. Obviously, we'd have to get someone off their roster and match some salaries, too. Who do you guys want off that roster?

Well they don't have many guys on contract.

I'd send Wilcox and the #4 for Kaman and the #7.

Other than that they don't have much to offer, unless they want to deal Al Thorton. I guess they could send a future first round pick.

The Clippers really don't have much i'd expect them to trade and they also don't have many expirings outside of Brevin Knight.

I'd also like a Kaman, #7 for Wilcox, #4 trade as well, but there's no way they'll do that.

So i think that the trade asdf1223 mentioned would be the most likely thing they'd do and i wouldn't mind that one, if we really want Westbrook and he's available at #7.

I wouldnt be so quick to say the Clippers wouldnt do that deal.

According to one Clippers insider, "No one is safe right now." With players such as Elton Brand, Al Thornton and Chris Kaman on the roster, the Clips could jolt things as the draft approaches.

Sonics could sweeten the pot by tossing in Petro or the #24 too.

I'd actually consider the #4 the #24 and Wilcox for Kaman and the #7 if Westbrook is there.

Sonics land a pure PG and a true Center. Both needs are adressed and the Sonics use the 2nd round picks to pick up a guy like Kyle Weaver.

So the Sonics then have a lock down defender on the wing.

I like it.

I've read that as well, but the problem is that Kaman, after the season he had, is worth the #4 pick alone.

I wouldn't mind that as well, and that looks more realistic to me than #4 for #7 and Kaman.

The Clippers have a history of dealing away young talent that develops elsewhere. Could we pry a Livingston? He looked very promising before the injury(s?). I also don't think that Wilcox would want to go back to playing behind Brand, don't look for that to happen.

Edit: Did some research and Livingston is an RFA. I guess outside of him the only person of interest to me would be Kaman but they'd be crazy to send him away.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.

Due to Seattle, L.A. Clippers, and Milwaukee being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Seattle, L.A. Clippers, and Milwaukee had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Not bad at all, Soy... I hate to give up Green, and Simmons contract stinks, but we certainly get quite a bit of talent. I'm not sure the Clippers do this, but who knows. We'd have, in no particular order:

Rid, Westbrook
Durant, Westbrook, Wilkins
Thorton, Durant, Simmons
Wilcox, Villaneuva, Collison, Love
Petro, Swift, Love, Collison

Quite a bit of athleticism with a future starting line up of Westbrook, Durant, Thorton, Love, and Petro.

too many power forwards! i would much rather have jeff green next to durant rather than al thorton. but having westbrook and kevin love would be crazy.

@Soy:
Nothinng personal, just something i'd like to know.
What's your problem with Jeff Green and why do you want to throw him away all the time?

Al Thornton also is a tweener forward and he's about 4 years older then Green.
Villanueva has been traded already and is being shopped by the Bucks for about a year now. He's another tweener forward that can't defend. And Simmons contract is absolutely not what we, as a rebuilding team, need right now.

Also, that trade does not help us, as we're still having problems at the 1 and 5 spots, while also giving away a solid(but overpaid) point guard in Earl Watson.

i dont know if it is possible to swap our pick with the clippers because it seems likely that the kknicks may take westbrook with their #6 pick. however, this would be great as a i believe he will be a very good pt guard and i am much higher on him than bayless

Det, he has said on a different thread that he does not believe Jeff Green is an effective 4, and that he wants KD to slide over to the 3, but he has problems with Green at the 4 for some reason.

The Clippers own the Wolves first pick next year, but it's top 10 protected until 2012. Getting Kaman & Westbrook in exchange for Mayo, Wilcox & #24 would be too good to be true. Especially considering the Clippers traded us Wilcox for a reason.

I like Jeff Green and all, but you guys are underrating Al Thorton... two very different players.

I seriously doubt the Clippers would let go of Kaman. How about a trade of #4 for #7, #35 and Nick Fasekas. Fasekas has some range on his shot and at 6-11 he gives us a big body to fill the paint. Another high second will be very valuable in this draft and allow #24 to move up.
