Sonics looking to trade up for Beasley.

Seattle is trying to move forward Chris Wilcox, while also attempting to move up to the No. 2 pick to take Michael Beasley, according to The New York Daily News.

Miami could decide to move down to the third spot to take O.J. Mayo, who has been working out with Dwyane Wade as of late. Unfortunately for the Sonics, they don't have much to offer the Heat.

Well there ya go.

You know what I find interesting though. I really think there is a good chance this could happen.

We have seen the rumors out there that Riley really likes Mayo and isn't sold on Beasley.

Sure the Sonics have Chris Wilcox to throw in on the trade but they also have tons of first round picks.

But this is why I think the Sonics take a chance and over pay for Beasley.

What is the best way the Sonics could re-sign Durant if they move to Oklahoma? Have him playing hoops in the NBA with one of his childhood friend and teammate.

If Durant is happy on the court because he's playing hoops with his buddy from DC that goes a long way.

Because what else is going to keep Durant in OKC if the Sonics end up moving there?

What would the starting lineup look like?

PG- Watson
SG- Durant
SF- Beasley
PF- Green
C- Petro/Collison

I hope Presti is able to keep one of our #24/#32 pick so we can get a pg.

i don't really see why miami would want o.j. mayo over beasley in the first place. dwyane wade needs to handle the ball LESS and finish more plays instead of creating them; mayo hasn't shown anything thus far that would indicate he could be that kind of distributor.

on the other hand, michael beasley would pair up with shawn marion to form the kind of duo we are envisioning here in seattle, only they'd also have the services of dwyane wade. to me, a trio of marion/beasley/wade is much more intriguing than marion/mayo/wade.

i agree with the notion that the sonics should attempt their best to get beasley, but i just don't see it happening. AFAIK pat riley isn't really the kind of guy to have tons of youth on his team playing important roles, and it'd probably take several future draft picks to get beasley. i don't see riley being receptive to it.

That's just a New York Newspaper writing about the stuff Chad Ford mentioned a couple days ago.

About Durant. I really don't think it's about him wanting to play there or not. I think that Nike would tell him(if the team ever moved to OKC) that he needs to be in a bigger market and that would make it next to impossible for the team to re-sign him.

So no matter who they add or not, i really don't see him staying longer then his rookie deal with the franchise, if it would move down there.

Ya, I don't buy into this rumor either. And I don 't buy into overpaying for Beasley. These guys are all unproven prospects. Who knows which ones will turn out to be star players. Besides, Beasley has way too much Derrick Coleman for my preference.

The guards (Mayo and Bayless) are really more SG than PG. That we continue to hear these rumors of the Sonics interest in Beasley tells me that Sam Presti is commited to Kevin Durant playing SG long term. If there was going to be a switch of positions for KD to SF the Sonics would not be considering Beasley but would be looking to trade up for Mayo. Durant does not have the body type to put on alot of weight. He might get beat up at SF.

Miami might trade Beasley for Mayo because they may be considering trading Wade to another team. Also, Wade handles the ball pretty well so they may not feel a big need for a typical PG and may want to play Wade and Mayo together.

I could see Miami selecting Beasley at #2. Then Minnesota may trade down. Possibly Brand winds up in Minnesota and the Clippers select Love. I could see Minnesota selecting Love if they have a trade worked out with Memphis or LAC for Love. Under this scenario OJ Mayo drops to Seattle at #4 enabling a trade with Miami for Beasley.

The Clippers need a SG, and they would be SO happy if they could take OJ. Think of what that would do for tickets there?

Well, like article says, we don't have much that Miami wants.

So just fill your starting 5 with Small forwards, huh?

If Sonics get beasley, they should play him at PF with Durant at SF and trade Jeff Green.

Did anyone miss the major error of the article? It acts like Sea has the 3rd and Mia has the 2nd and there is a pick exchange. The NY media is crazy.

I have not heard anything about Sea making a move. I assume this is because you guys have one of the more quiet front offices. (I respect that) I keep hearing LAC is trying to work something our with Miami.

If I had to place money on it right now. Based on my gut feeling, but some whispers also.
Chi-ROse
Mia trades with LAC. The core of the package is Blount+Mayo for Brand+(???)
MN is left to take Beasley. (Still not sure if they keep Beasley or trade him for a crazy package. That package would need to include the Love pick, as well as a starting big guy. They will ask alot because they are in a good position)

That is simply how I see things right now. I cannot confirm the LAC Mia deal.,but there are some many factors to it, so may whispers and the people who would know are tight lipped.

If Minnesota had Love and Jefferson, wouldn't they both start? So the request for the starting big man would be a caliber capable of starting, but would be asked to come off the bench behind Love and Jefferson, correct?

Does that sound like Nick Collison to anyone else?

Someone who can start, but can come off the bench. Won't complain but will do all the dirty things. He can backup the 4/5

I think the Heat would do Jeff Green/Donyell Marshall/Chris Wilcox/Earl Watson/the 4th pick for the 2nd pick/Shawn Marion/Marcus Banks.

Green=3mill
Donyell=5.5mill
Wilcox=6.5mill
Watson=5.8
--------------------------
Total=20.8

Marion=16mill
Banks=3.9
----------------------
Total=19.9

Sonics get Beasley, T'Wolves probably take Mayo, Heat take Kevin Love/Jarred Bayless/Brook Lopez/etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sonics
PG-Luke Ridnour
SG-Kevin Durant
SF-Michael Beasley
PF-Shawn Marion
C-Nick Collison
-----------------------------
Heat
PG-Earl Watson
SG-Dwyane Wade
SF-Jeff Green
PF-Udonis Haslem
C-Kevin Love
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Heat do it because
a)They don't want Marion there. He's a cancer in the locker room.
b)They don't want Beasley, as he is not the serious character that Pat Riley likes.
c)They fill alot of spots with veterans instead of rebuilding with youth. This keeps the Heat competitive in the playoffs, which keeps Dwyane Wade's chances of staying there higher.
d)Jeff Green is a damn good player.
e)Whoever they get at 4 will help on a playoff team.

The Sonics do it because
a)Beasley is Durant's boy and that can only be good for business.
b)If Durant can be an SG along the same lines as TMac, and Beasley could be gthe next Melo, then a Beasley/Durant combo could be one of the best ever.
c)If Shawn Marion doesn't work out, his contract expires after the season anyway.
d)If Shawn Marion doesn't work out, he could be very valuable trade bait at the deadline.

If we do overpay for Beasely, I hope you package Green & expiring for Milwaukee's pick and draft DJ or Westbrook.

That's an interesting thought Soy, rumor had it that Milwaukee was really high on Jeff Green last year. Also, with NY possibly looking for a F maybe they'd prefer green over Alexander or Randolph? I know Green is a proven commodity, infact I have a Jeff Green Jersey on right now.

However, I am 100% comfortable letting Beasley Green and Durant all get 35 mins per game.

At 30 years of age and with a $17M expiring contract, Marion is not what the Sonics need. It is unlikely they would resign him which leaves them with nothing. If Marion is a cancer in the Miami locker room what makes him a prize for Seattle? Green will produce just as much at SF as Marion at both ends of the floor for a much lower price. I don't see a deal with Miami unless it is strictly for draft picks.

i'd do that marion deal in a heartbeat but i doubt that miami would; and i doubt that we'd take on that kind of salary with the team's situation being what it is.

marion's an elite defender/rebounder at his position and durant/beasley could probably learn a lot from him. i also like the idea of getting beasley without giving up future draft picks.

i think jeff green is a bit overrated on this board. he's a good player but won't be in beasley's league, and there's not a snowball's chance in h*ll he'll be in marion's.

Overpay for Michael Beasley if you have it, as he'd only make the future even more promising for this team, and what a teammate he would have to grow with in Kevin Durant.

But how far would you go? I wouldn't give up the #4 and Green... I would give up #4 Wilcox and the better of PHX or Seattle 2010 pick, along with taking a bad contract back.

There was a side rumor that if Chi-ROse, Mia-Beasley that MN would move their pick to seattle (your front office apparently will "move mountains" for Bayless) and get wilcox and take mayo.

Problem is with the whole "Mayo at second (to lac or to mia) where MN drafts Beasley. If MN trades Beasley for love then they would want a starter at the 3 spot. Sad enough that would be Jeff Green. I know that bothers many of you here, but the balls are in MN's court if they have Beasley.

Make the trade work w/o giving up Al/Brew/Foye. We could attach McCants or Boston's first next year.

If Sea is uninterested then they can draft Bayless (or stick to Love) and MN can stay with Beasley or trade down to Memphis.

Fact of the matter is we have publically said that we only trade down if we get Love+ a young starter. Wilcox would not be a young starter in this situation because Love/Jefferson.
