City of Seattle sells out

Post#1 » by Sonics3408 » Wed Jul 2, 2008 11:31 pm

SEATTLE -- In a stunning turn, the city of Seattle and the SuperSonics have reached a last-minute settlement before the judge was to rule in their KeyArena lease dispute.

The settlement was reached just hours before U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman was to announce her verdict in the trial between the city and the team.

The city of Seattle has scheduled a news conference at 5 p.m. PT Wednesday, the same time as a news conference in Oklahoma City with Sonics' owner Clay Bennett. Terms of the settlement were expected to be announced then.

The settlement was announced by Pechman on the federal court Web site.

Rumor is they settled for 75 million :(. I really, really want to know what the ruling would have been. This ain't looking good. Is Schultz going to file an injunction? Would it have a chance?

Is this really needed? We're discussing this in the trial thread.

** Global Edit: I understand your upset over the news, but be reasonable and keep it clean. Threats like that in today's world are not something even to joke about. - UCF **

I'm sorry guys. Clay Bennett is an a-hole for doing this to your city.

Bennet is not an ****. He just wanted a **** team. Stern is the dumb mother **** that didn't give OKC an expansion team when they asked. I just hope tomorrow when I wake up, this is just all a dream. :(

Don't blame Clay, he's a duck, he quacks.

Blame the city for not working with Schulz on a renovation deal when it was known he was losing money for years. Blame Schulz for selling the team to a guy he knew wanted to move the team.
