OT Thanks to our elected officials I have to watch........

Post#1 » by wiff » Sun Sep 7, 2008 10:54 pm

I'm so glad the state and city of Seattle elected officials felt that there were so many other quality sports options in Seattle for sports fans to follow, that they didn't really need to get off their arse to try to figure out a way to keep the Sonics here.

After all there are the Huskys football and basketball teams. Oh wait the Huskies football team is 0-2 and at the end of the season will be lucky to win 4 games.
Image
(Beware Jake you don't need Mono.)

Their hoops team was competitive but seems to be on a down hill slide.
Image
(^^^ I should have went to Gonzaga!)

And over the last 15 years or so both have been closer to miserable than competitive.

Oh wait the Seattle sports fan can follow the Mariners.
Image
They sure have one fancy semi-new stadium, too bad their play on the field is putrid and they are down by 3 runs by the third inning in what seems to be every game I tune in to watch. Seriously the Mariners are the worst team in the American League. And have only been decent only a small percentage of their entire history. Since 1977 there inaugural season the Mariners have only been in the playoffs 4 freakin times. It took them 14 seasons to finally finish above .500, and have finished above .500 in just ten seasons. Whoopeeee!

How about Cougar football for the Washington state sports fan? Well in their last two games they have been out scored 105 to 16.
Image
Yeah they are going to be bad for a while.

Oh but don't fret Seattle sports fan you have the glorious NFL to cheer for.
Image
Haven't you got the memo NBA fan? The NFL is all the rage.
Image
(Too bad I have no help!)
The prestigious Seahawks came out today and crapped the bed in Buffalo. Looks like a banner year for the Hawks they can't run the ball and they have no receivers. The Hawks have only made the playoffs a total of ten times in their 32 year history. They had a stretch of 20 years between post season victories. That means there were kids in their second year at college who have never seen a Seahawks playoff victory. And somehow they got a brand new stadium.

I guess the Seattle sports fan can slum it and watch (what?) Cougar basketball.
Image
But I have to scratch my head and think with Weaver and Lowe gone how are the Cougs going to be able to keep up the success? I love Tony Bennett and think he's a great coach but still it's Pullman. Not exactly the recruiting capital of the USA.

So that leaves the Zags.
Image
A tiny school that plays in a division that most teams would get whack by high school teams from Chicago. So every year they make the dance and then get bounced somewhere around the second round. Actually I think this year they will dance longer than they ever have but that doesn't really leave too many options for the Seattle sports fan to get excited about.

I'm so glad our elected officials decided to let the Sonics go because I'm sure the rest of the Sonics fans like me will simply bandwagon one of the other teams.

Oh wait all the rest of the local teams suck too. Thanks for not giving a sh@t about my Sonics I hope this election year you all lose your jobs!

Right on Wiff!

I'm pretty much done with all Seattle sports for awhile. I'm just fed up with everything that happened with the Sonics and how unactive the city and state legislature was on getting something done. It makes me sick. Since the team left I have yet to watch a Mariners game, and it sucks that the Seahawks stunk it up last weekend.

Now that Nate Burleson is out for the season, we're screwed at WR. I guess we'll be seeing Forsett a little bit more possibly?

^Ouch. That one hurts. The Seahawks aren't going to be any fun to watch this year. I can't believe they let go of Kent too.

Don't forget about the T-Birds. You can always turn your wintertime sports attention to junior hockey.

I can't believe how bad the Huskies and Cougars are. The Cougars have been outscored 150-33 in three games, and the Huskies are currently being absolutely destroyed by Oklahoma. Locker has no help...

3 minutes left Hawks up by three and San Fran inside the Hawks 10.

Can you feel the pressure mounting?

I think you should get an NHL franchise from a crappier hockey market (Nashville or w.e)

NHL sucks IMO, but it seems to be a pretty popular idea around Western Washington with the new hockey arena being built in Kent.

In all fairness, over the last decade or so, the Seahawks have probably been better than the Sonics.

I'm going to go hide now.
