I know what an Exhibit 9, Exhibit 10 and a training camp deal are - all 3 are slightly different. Dowtin signed a training camp deal with the possibility of having his non guaranteed, guaranteed on opening day. It's how he will get on the roster and be paid 2m this year (if he makes it of course). Exhibit 10's are typically reserved for players that are destined for the 905's, the come equipped with a small guarantee - like 50k - so when they're waved it's used to top up the G-League salary. Sometimes they're converted to 2ways but the Raptors have already committed to 3 players.

Now, some people would have said something like, oh yeah, you were right about the conversion thing, but apparently being wrong is not your thing.

Your comment above suggests that you are confused about Dowtin's contract. As I noted from Spotrac, Dowtin actually signed a standard contract with an Exhibit 10 attachment. These are typically used for training camp invites, so it's fair to say he signed a "training camp deal", but it's specifically an Exhibit 10, not a summer contract (see cbafaq #70) or an Exhibit 9 (which can be added to a summer contract, or an Exhibit 10 just to make the term more confusing).

One thing I learned from DanH was not to take Spotrac as gospel, as they're not always correct and the terms of Dowtin's contract have not been announced yet. I see they've assumed he's an exhibit 10 but that is the only place that has him listed like that. There are far more places, well, every other one that I've seen that has him simply as a nonguaranteed contract that will become guaranteed on opening night but the actual terms have not been put out https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2023/07/raptors-signing-jeff-dowtin-to-training-camp-agreement.html. He won't be slated for the 905's and he won't be slated for a 2way, as you yourself noted that those 3 positions are full. Reality is none of those 3 x 2ways or Dowtin or Fynn or whatever other 2-3 players will rarely see the floor anyways unless there's an injury or two or three. Not something I should have vented my bad day over that's for sure

Yeah I remember that guy in the video. Dude went onto be a key guy on a championship team and an all-star a half decade later. The deterioration came quick.

With the IQ addition there is less of a clear path to a role in the rotation for him now. Jontay was also the only 2-way brought on the west coast road trip with the team. The other two 2-ways and Gradey are with the 905.
