Dude had a pretty rough start to his career. Nice article by Blake.

In an October scrimmage just before the start of the season, Jontay tore his ACL and MCL while damaging a number of other parts of his right knee. Feeling good and wanting to return in time for the 2019 NBA Draft, Jontay re-tore his ACL and MCL in late March progressing to dynamic movements before he’d been fully cleared.

Damn. He blew out the same knee twice within 6 months. The kid is a fighter, and by definition a hooper.

His shot looks good, it's just not going in. That seems the only thing he can provide on offense. Doesn't really have a back to the basket game.

Raptors are so desperate for any success on the margins that if he becomes a reliable 3rd big man that would be a huge win at this point. Haven’t discovered a surprise contributor since Boucher/FVV, it’s been years.

I don't care if he can shoot the 3. We have enough of those. We need rebounding and rim protection and he gives you neither one of those. He is an OK backup C to give your starting C rest time at best.

I said hes undersized after his first game but the pseudo scouts didnt want to hear it. Of course hes fundamentaly sound and makes good decisions he has to when he cant rebound or be the last line of help

Defensively I think he has some work to do in terms of banging down low, although he moves his feet decently well on the perimeter in keeping guards in front of him. Offensively, he does a bit of everything, but his best trait is probably his vision, so I'm going to go with a mix of Tobias Harris and Draymond Green in terms of offensive play style.

Whatever the comparison is, he's going to be a rotation piece for us moving forward, and if he keeps developing and stays healthy I think he has the tools for a long career. Especially if he can unlock his shooting to ~35-38%, where teams need to close out and guard him on the perimeter, because that will open up space for the rest of the team and amplify his passing vision.
