My thoughts exactly. Randle is a good player, but I don't see a Brunson, Randle duo going far. The Knicks will add to it, but they need a lot more to be something serious imo

OG would have fit on just about any team in the league. He's that kind of player. Good trade for both teams.

That said, are the Knicks even getting past the first round?

It was a great trade for both teams though and people always need to pick who won or lost from it. Just let it be. Both teams benefit from it.

Offload Randle for picks, and picks + IQ for OG

Brunson + RJ + OG + Mitchell
I do like this idea much more with RJ there and trading Randle, but the Knicks wanted OG and they weren't getting him with Randle

I totally agree. It’s clear they needed O.G

The only thing is let’s see what happens next.

What if Knicks can’t go past 2nd round
What if Knicks overpay for O.G and next season the Knicks plateau.

I totally understand why NYK did the move.

But there is still a possibility that a year from now, the trade does not look as good for them

Same could be said for Raptors.

I truly think it’s a win-win trade. I am on board with the decision taken by both FO.

But my future self could see the situation differently.

Make the trade for Bruce Brown and they will be even more solid and then next year get Mitchell Robinson back. Add another player with the MLE and probably be a top 4 team in the east.

Exactly. They are a slightly better team then we were last season and will come down to earth when it counts.

The issue is we now are now far weaker and many fans will have to accept this for some time to come after being one piece from being relevant for the last few years.

The Knicks will now have to find a way to add the missing piece and aside from being a bit more attractive to Amercians we had a better chance to add that piece with Scottie as a trade chip. Not sure what they could even offer?

Yeah Bridges would be the perfect get, his defense combined with OGs would make them super tough defensively, plus he adds much better scoring than say Bruce Brown. Plus the Villanova connection.

Probably a pipe dream for the Knicks though. Nets say they are buyers not sellers, but even if they decided to rebuild there's a feeling they won't make trades with NYK.

There are other reports saying they are 'sellers' , even though if I were the Nets, I would fire their coach first and re-assess with all that talent.
If I were Knicks, I would end every draft picks the Nets would want for Mikal. It would be a very nice lineup to watch Brunson|Bridges|OG|"Randle" for years to come, Thibs might have an 'orgasm' with Mikal and OG defending both wings at DPOY-level.

Yeah, not to say they'd beat Boston even then but no other team could be able to match with Tatum and Brown any better.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

OG is the ultimate 3 and D role player extraordinare and basically has the best +/- in his first few games with the Knicks in history? I don't think they regret a thing. They're winning more too.

NY still have the draft capital to go out and snag another star player too, as well as a couple other role players to fill out their roster. I imagine they could target mitchell if he shakes loose, then add a guy like Brown. That could be a deadly team next year with Robinson back.

Knicks since the trade have had an incredible easy schedule.
And they also have two All-NBA calibre guys - two bonafide stars - in Randle & Brunson leading the way.

OG has been a solid addition but the Raps undoubtedly got the better of the deal.
