I don't know... Haven't heard Paul Pierce say the smartest things as analyst. So not gonna all of a sudden feel good just because he complements us. More like uh uh, are we doing something wrong?

I’d take an ex-pro’s word.

Just because you are an ex-pro it does not mean you are a good analyst or scout of the game. Some ex-pro's make some of the dumbest hot takes you will ever see.

Remember Arenas saying that he thought Orlando would beat us in the 1st round in 2019? Remember Arenas saying last year that Giannis isn't a superstar?

You hear crazy stuff like this all the time.

Pierce as well has had some horrible takes: Predicting the Celtics-Bucks series was over after game 1 in 2019, saying the Bucks would sweep us after game 2 in 2019, saying he had a better career than D-Wade, saying that Duke could have beat the 2019 Cavs etc.

You can be a great player and a terrible analyst...just like someone can be a bad player but a great coach, analyst, scout etc.

Whether they are being genuine or not they are right. The roster and draft capital look solid if you can accept that we are at the start of a multi-year rebuild and aren't expecting a playoff team right now.
