The only team behind us that can realistically catch us is Portland, so that is the only must lose game for the tank.

The Ls should come fast and furious now that we're resting guys plus player apathy kicking in.

We are currently in sixth spot. Ideally, we need to be in fifth spot realistically, it will be no lower than five given how poor some of the other teams are so Portland is the only team that can catch an overtake us.

That still means close to a 40% chance of missing out on the pick but that’s the best we can do.

IDk why they had to put a top 6 and not top 8 protection.

The Spurs' fans say:
"IDk why they had to put a top 6 and not top 4 protection".
We all have different opinions, and that is one thing that makes this forum great.

You want to lose the pick this year and not in 2025 or 2026.

I'd add HOU to that list. For Scottie it might be personal.

We are playing Blazers on second night of back to back , it will be easier to rest Scottie or other players but also easier to lose.

People keep saying this because "weak draft", but if it doesnt parlay this year you add another year to the backend of the tank. All the locked up guys will be a year older and one less year of your drafted guy getting experience (if you were to draft in 2025 instead of 2024). Also, the Raps are bad but they could be maybe play in next year...if all breaks right and they get a top 6 this year. Is top 6 this this year better than 13-15 next year? Probably, no matter what draft express says.

I am also hopeful they can get 1 2025 1st for at the deadline for all their guys (GTJ/Schroder/Brown) which could be within a few spots of Raps pick (10-15?)

TLDR: The Raptors need young bodies yesterday. I am sure Masai can draft a great player 5th or 6th this year that would be better and next year will be a lot more fun to watch and hopeful with said young pick playing.

There are high-end superstar talents in 2025 and 2026, no such player exists in 2024. If things go sideways next year, and the Spurs are picking Hugo Gonzales or something... that would suck far worse than whatever role player they take with pick 6 this year.

Why would you want 3 FRP in the same year anyway? That's terrible for development, especially when none of the picks will be a day 1 starter. 3 more Malachi Flynn's and Gradey Dick's?... no thanks.

Hard to balance losing and keeping pick while keep team morale high even though they know they are rebuilding. Knowing the Raptors FO they probably intend on giving up the pick next season.

We're already on a losing trajectory this year might as well follow thru with it and see what they start doing next season, 2 straight actual tanking seasons is much more doable if you have your own picks.

You just play out thee season. Trying to keep the pick, or not keep the pick, is a hard thing to do. And for next season, who knows if a couple of guys make a jump and the free agent additions are useful. Next-season they could be a play-in team, so late lottery at worst. Next season promises to be a lot less disruptive from the trade standpoint. And then there are scenarios where a team near the tax looks at next season's (2025) draft and offers to swap their 2025 pick for the Indy pick in 2026 to avoid adding salary for the 2025-26 season.
