Unless something changes I'm not sure the pick conveys next year, unless the lottery balls bounce down.

This isn't a good team and there is no path for it to be next year. Charlotte, Portland and even Detroit could be better than the Raps next year. No reason why San Antonio wouldn't be either.

If everything stays exactly the same, yes. I think it's a tanking season as well, but I think we could get enough talent to surprise.

When does the pick turn into 2nd rounders? Would we just have to tank next year or the year after as well?

2026. We would need to be bottom 6 for 3 years. Which would be somewhat obtainable, but that would put us going into 2026-27 in Scotties year 6 season being bad for 3 straight years. I guess it is not that crazy to think we could turn ourselves into contenders by 2028 or 2029 with 3 top 6 picks plus Scottie however.

I hope that we aren’t trash for 3 years more. Next year I would tolerate as a growing season, but beyond that? Not sure. This is why I’m hoping we trade for Dejounte or bring in someone at that level of skill.

Ah yeah that might be too much, if it was only next year that would have been more palatable.
