GQstylin is likely looking at the box score stats and not anything beyond that. We lose to Philly in 4-5 games if we have JV instead of Gasol.
Flawed or not JV was still much better than a horrible Gasol that was nearing the end of his career. I've watching pretty much every Raps playoff game and almost every season he brought his level of play up in the post-season with his energy and consistency while our 'best players' in Derozan and Lowry were bricking shots like there was no tomorrow. How many times did those two shoot us out of playoff victories while JV kept us in games whenever his teammates bothered to involve him in the offense?
Also maybe I'm wrong but I could've sworn someone posted some stats where JV did pretty well when matched up against Embiid in the games we played for him. Gasol didn't provide much of anything when he was here except brick after brick whenever he got the ball and poor rebounding for a big. In fact with JV the Raps might've beaten Philly in less than 7 games on a luck shot by Kawhi. We could've had better rebounding and offensive threat in the middle which Gasol was neither and it hurt the Raps.
