The OG deal was so good. So so good. Unbelievable trade from Masai. All the trades that followed however were either head scratchers or meh trades.

Yeah I think it’s possible with the right seeding. I think the difference between them and some of the other teams is they won’t be contenders year in and year out. They are kind of like the Atlanta team from three years ago.

C'mon how can you say they're not built to last. They have a solid young core, smart FO, and the ability to sign more players. They are nothing like the flash in the pan Hawks team.

Hawks were actually a younger team and went to the ECF.

There is nothing to indicate the Knicks FO is smart. They were a laughingstock of the league for about two decades .

You do realize they're not the same people now, right? Just as Masai is not the same as Babcock and BC

Dolan might still be a scumbag but you haven’t been paying attention if you don’t think the Knicks have been well run since Leon Rose took over. Here is the team they have assembled:

Brunson
Randle
OG
Robinson
Hart
DDV
Bogdanovich
Hartenstein

+ the own all of their own 1sts going forward as well as being owed up to 4 other 1sts.

Are they a contender? No. Are they a solid playoff team with the assets to acquire a star in a trade? Absolutely. We can (and have) all laughed at the Knicks but you have to give their current FO credit. Dumb teams would not find themselves in the situation the Knicks are in.

You're being much too logical here. To some posters only Masai has a brilliant plan and a team that used to be "dumb" under previous management can never be right

Yes, of course. But from my understanding they’ve only had that position for 2-3 years. Or am I wrong?

I’ve been critical of Masai. But I think it’s foolish to anoint a team that has been so unsuccessful as the next Heat/Raptors. At the end of the day they have accomplished so little. In fact, they’ve accomplished nothing.

I’m just not the kind of guy to be giving out participation ribbons. I need more than that.

Agbaji took some bad shots last night. But that baseline and1 was nice and his defense was solid.

I saw Utah fans complaining he got no role in the offense and never got more than 3-4 shots and therefore always looked tentative and passive.

He got 9 up last night. I wonder if we’re actively encouraging him to fire away to see if we unlock something
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

They'll also need to switch some things around in offensive sets to get him shooting from the corners more, rather than above the break. But that'll all take some time to implement.

And hopefully next year he can come back with more consistency from all areas beyond the 3 point line.

Only place he should be encouraged to fire away is the corners

Of course, they're just starting out on a climb. Too soon to say a chip is at the end of the road. Just that it looks like they're doing the right things. Rose and co. took over in 2020. Beating the favored Cavs in 5 then taking Miami to 6 games last spring wasn't a bad start was it? No one is anointing them yet but I see why Knicks fans are excited and hopeful. Except for the current horrible string of injuries of course.

Knicks are in a good situation. Embracing the 'Nova identity was a great move. Other teams are encountering problems so they could surprise in playoffs.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

He seemed a bit hesitant before taking a couple of those shots as well. Definitely has to do with the fact that he hasn't had the chance to practice with the team.

I was content with his performance last night and believe he's a very high upside player.

Fun fact: The Twin Towers were still standing the last time the Knicks and Raptors both made the playoffs.

If they can ever complete the Nova identity with Mikal Bridges they'll really have something
