Then why not trade him at the draft for a 2nd in 2028? Anything?

Because we need his contract in aggregate with Brown’s to be a player for a full max contract. Plus now we have Vezenkov and Mitchell to throw into the mix as well. Way more flexibility for trade purposes.
I believe in Masai.

Yeah, they seem to have plenty of room for Kuminga's new deal as well next off-season. They're not trading Wiggins for Brown and Boucher; it's the only big contract they have for trade purposes at this point.

I still wonder if they do - get rid of Wiggins deal to prep for next FA potentially?

It’s literally all about term. Wiggins is their only decent wing at the moment though. I’m feeling it’s less likely that they make a move, although I don’t know if they need Brown now that they got Melton. Who knows what they’re thinking though?

Player coach to help implement Darko's system and provide some bench guidance so Darko doesn't get tuned out. Perfectly fine signing. No team should just round out their bench with ONLY 1-3 year players lol.

Guys going to have a great career after he retires.

Lol, and should he be a head coach, will earn more than he ever did as player... crazy nba

Eventually.

Shocked if he's not a assistant in a year and HC 5-7 years.

Unless he goes media.

Why not straight to HC? If JJ can do it, GT can too!

Not really hating on the deal, but "crucial" to what, exactly??

Crucial to us maxing our roster spots and refusing to bring back GTJ. Works for me.

I don't know what level of sport you guys have played, but some of you really don't understand the importance of having a solid lockerroom, and vet leaders. ESP on a young rebuilding team, you need guys like Temple to set players on the right path. You need them to talk to guys when they get down, help motivate them the right way. You need a bridge between players and the coaches, and a means to vent their frustration without taking it out on the coaches and staff. And let's be honest....quite a few NBA players stereotypically have grown up without their dads and/or strong father figures in their lives. An older guy like Temple can teach them about life off the court too, and help them go from boyz 2 men.

I know when I played competitive sports, I could clearly tell the difference between certain teams I played on that had solid lockeroom leadership with some older guys to mentor the younger guys, and teams that were all the same age without a de-facto leader.

We have packed the back of the bench with a bunch of rookies or rookie adjacent players (Finally);
Keeping Temple on a min contract seems fairly logical.

Yes leadership also, but I thought that went without saying. I rate Garret Temple for his leadership skills.

Is "crucial" overstating things? In what way was his presence crucial, what would have happened if he wasn't there?

No way of knowing. Perhaps he helped keep harmony through the losing. No way to prove or disprove this kind of thing.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

He's a waste of a roster spot but we're not trying to win next year anyways.
