He was always a professional, and always stood up for his teammates. Hoping he has a big year with the Bucks.

If only he could score coming off the bench too. Such a waste of a year for him. Hope he figures it out

Noticed his swagger and dressing up for game day diminished over time. Batting injuries and confidence. Had plenty of opportunities, even seen great flashes of chemistry with Scottie 2-man game passing the ball. But now time to move on and let Gradey and Kobe develop

Re: Gary Trent Jr Appreciation Thread
Gary was always a great professional when he was here. Played as a starter or off the bench and I never heard about him complaining about his role once. He also seemed well liked by the guys in the locker room. So, it's sad to see Gary the person go.
That said, I don't think his play style fit here anymore, and I was an advocate for letting him go. He always seemed to stop whatever advantage was created on offence as he got into his bag of moves to get his shots off, and gambled too much on defence. Also, on a team that consistently created a ton of turnovers while he was here, he's been one of the worst transition players I've ever seen because you always knew he was going to try to force it to the rim no matter the situation (even if he had teammates to pass to), and it usually ended poorly.
So good luck to Gary in Milwaukee, but I'm ready to turn the page.

Gary was an absolute professional with us. He never complained to the media or sulked on the court when things weren't going his way. I really wish he had been able to find more consistency while he was here and I hope he drains a ton of threes next year in Milwaukee so he can get himself a decent contract. Best of luck!

Consumate pro.
He will be remembered as the bridge between the 'chip and the rebuild. Sucks to see him go but it's a business that his agent unfortunately dropped the ball on.
Wish him the best in Milwaukee. It's a good move for him professionally but terrible from a social aspect.

Re: Gary Trent Jr Appreciation Thread
He was a good kid who always did his best, but was just limited to being a spot up shooter in the end. Never quite developed the secondary skills needed to become a full time starter. He might have developed more if he was given more on-ball time like he might've had in POR, but we always had so many people ahead of him in the pecking order. Will be remembered around here for being not-Norm.

Always appreciated Gary for the way he embraced the team and the city, he really did feel at home. I wish him all the best, he can potentially set himself up for a huge year by producing for a contending team and a massive payday next offseason.

He'll be spoken of in the same hallowed breaths as TJ Ford and Joey Graham.
Healthy TJ was good. Joey twins were useless. Gary was not a bad starter but ball had to go to Scottie and Paskal. So... unfinished product and business. Schroder got paid again after his big contract oops haircut so there is hope Gary can at least Schroder his way around the league. This is not the new CBA as Schroder got burned this way under the old one. Rich Paul has some splainin to do. Gary drops him for sure.
Joey was a power forward asked to play small forward. He had some great games at PF when Bosh was out.

I could count on one hand the amount of nice passes he made in his time as a Raptor and I don't think I've ever seen a player that could so consistently screw up a fast break.

I must be a casual as I never saw anything from Gary that looked like a negative liability. Totally chill player. Was a master of the pull up 3. He attempted steals that sometimes did not work out otherwise a solid contributor.

Re: Gary Trent Jr Appreciation Thread
Id put him in the Terrence Ross category.
Visually, looks like a good basketball player with a nice shot, but it just doesnt materialize enough when it matters.
There are many players we've had like this, and will most likely have more in the future.

Re: Gary Trent Jr Appreciation Thread
We didn't need Gary and his 1 sided play. He'll be dangerous for the Bucks and help them win some games just standing in the corner wide open while Dame and Giannis are doing their thing
