The tank is locked in with or without Poeltl.

Actually it is different. Without Yak, we wouldnt be even be close to winning. Most games we lose right now, are not cause we are outplayed, but we outplay ourselves. Lately RJ with his TOs is a prime example. It has nothing to do with the opponent. The moment we stop doing that, we will start winning, especially when the schedule gets friendlier. As long as we reach 5-15, we are in the mix and the East is very weak this year so far.

Still makes sense to move him before the deadline if they're going to.

His peak value is from now until then because he'll have a PO in the summer of 2026.

I don't want to play the expiring contract game with yak next year. I don't he'd want to stick around if its a bunch of kids losing games next year and we can't lose him for nothing.

I am not opposed to trade him if we get a good return, but
1. I doubt a good return is available.
2. Masai cannot trade him for less than a mid-late lottery pick as he would be judged harshly even by casuals. I mean he traded the 8th pick for him.
3. Poeltl could be useful for current player development. And he might serve our needs next year.

His value isnt that high. Obviously you trade him for the right picks or pieces but his value isnt as high as we believe. Just like Brown's value isnt or wasnt as high as we thought.

Its high sorry. Hes so competent and efficient at every aspect of a starting C modulo shooting and free throws

Poeltl for Smart and Edey. Win Win for both teams. Works in the trade checker as well.

Edey is +58 in his last 5. I don't think they're including him, but maybe a protected first instead, and we could get some 2nds and an expiring for Smart from someone?

OKC got destroyed in the middle for not having an NBA starting center. How long can Sam Presti keep being cheap

I think Knicks may be a potential trade target. Mitchell Robinson had one of the worst FG% against in the paint last season. Knicks run came alongside getting OG + iHart replacing Mitchell.

Also don't know if Mitchell will be as good coming back from a recurring ankle injury, or if he can stay healthy.

Knicks have Detroit and Washington 2025 picks, both protected. Detroit's may convey this year.
