He's currently a very good player, who still has a very long way to go. He's nowhere close to reaching his ceiling. He's not getting there quickly, but maybe he'll have breakthroughs here and there along the way.

It's nice to see him find ways to be effective without 'blow by/dunk over you' athleticism. But there's still so much room for growth.

I notice he lets himself get pushed off his line too easily on drives...it's partially due to his long legs and high center of gravity, but if he gets low and uses his footwork and strength to control his momentum better he'll see a night and day difference in his ability to finish under control at the rim. RJ is masterful at this, with the way he plans his steps and loads up to prepare for contact...then he has elite touch on his left hand layups. Scottie doesn't have the persistence, footwork or touch that RJ does, but hopefully he can get there.

Right now, Scottie doesn't have a spot anywhere on the floor where you can say with confidence, he's scoring from here. From 3pt shots to midrange to layups, even dunks it's still a bit of a crapshoot as to whether he can score consistently or not. His midrange and post offense is currently the most promising and consistent...but I think he has so much room to grow using footwork, hesitations, and deception/counters to get layups and dunks. He's shows flashes which is exciting.

I think Scottie ultimately becomes a really good player, but it's going to take him time. He doesn't come across as a gifted learner, so he needs lots of reps and he'll have to improve based on work ethic and having a good trainer. Half the battle for him is just learning what his go to advantages are and using it more consistently.

Oh he has a spot. He was just not using it as much as I would like, but I do think him shooting a ton of 3s at the beginning was part of the development plan. Since the beginning of this year he has been sitting in the midrange more and you're seeing an array of shots including turnarounds and stepbacks. His efficiency has also been Kawhi Leonard like. Let him focus there and spread that over a much larger same size. This is his goto.

Now what he definitely needs tonronis increase his free throw rate. That will transform his game. The 3 I think will get at least okay over time.

Regarding the above...his FT rate could jump if he learns a good head fake on those shots.

Right now he is shooting them every time and even though teams know it, they can't block it. If he can learn a nice fake, he can draw a foul and still get up his shot.

He can also fake then take 1-2 steps and be at the rim.

All in due time hopefully

Also....pretty nice company he is in on that fg% from that range.

I decided to reward the boys for a good effort against the hated C's with all-star nods, both to Scottie and RJ. I'll try to remember to do it every day, just to enhance the odds on an injury replacement call-up.

On the the NBA website, they use fantasy points (FNP) as a way of ranking the guards and forwards. I assume the calculation is similar to Hollinger's PER. It's interesting that Scottie, Franz, Evan and Sengun are grouped together at 42-43 fantasy points. But Cade is starting to create some separation, with a 47 average. If Scottie can ever get that 3-ball working, he'll be all-NBA for sure. Probably - and hopefully - not this season.

Interesting that both RJ and Scottie are listed as forwards.

This is great to see and it aligns with the eye test with regards to his offensive game. This should be the core of his offensive approach and he can expand out from there...and develop counters and fakes to draw fouls or step through and get to the rim. He tends to get held up or pushed off his line on drives to the rim, which I think could be solved by him getting lower and going with more force...but also, he's already shown success when he does a stop start hesitation on his drives...him being so efficient from the midrange pullup should just unlock this even more. But as I mentioned earlier, his layup package and touch off the glass leaves a lot to be desired currently. I'd love to see him learn to gather better on his finishing step(s) to go up strong with momentum towards the rim...this would also lead to more free throw opportunities.

It’s nut that a washed up Kawhi is the probably the best player for Scottie to emulate scoring wise.

How weird is it?

You have an identifiable "tank advocacy community" that glorifies teenage boys. Is that not true?

Does the pro-tank community glorify or advocate for any player over the age of the 21?

So is it not factual to say that they glorify and worship teenage boys?

Bro...ain't no fanbase during the 80s and 90s talking about "let's tank for an 18 year old prospect".
.

It’s weird because you’re implying that the interest grown men have in teenaged basketball prospects is motivated by more than basketball, namely, a deviant attraction to them. Do such people exist? I’d be surprised if they didn’t, but my bet is that crowd is in the extreme minority. What’s more likely is that many sports/NBA fans of bad teams want to get young gifted players on their teams and are invested in that endeavour so much that they devote lots of time to scouting young players and making guesses about why they would be good for the team they support.

Uh brother.

Anyone who loves underage players is suspect imo.

Tank ppl are literally only interested in 19 and under teenage boys. Any player that is 22 or 23 no longer applies for their little schism.

warned and banned again.

When one thinks about it long enough....they realize it is a predatory mind state. One that targets teenage boys.
