Personally I still can't get over what a waste 2022-2024 was. Two picks in the teens over three seasons and no seasons of any quality. If the rebuild had started earlier, the depth of talent on the team would be so much better and the pieces around Scottie more promising than we have now.

That said, the pivot they finally made in late 23 was fine and they've done well since. But unless this draft really hits, they may have locked the team into a lower ceiling around Scottie that'll last for the next 3 to 4 years.

I can't give them a strong score for the time / opportunities they wasted, so it's still a B.

I was told showcasing Boucher, Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk by going 7-1 would pump their value and fetch us more return in a trade

Now crickets....

Didn't we move two of those guys and a middling 1st for Ingram? Do you even know what your whining about at this point?

yes I do.

Bruce Brown ended up with near 0 value; he was simply salary balast for facilitating the BI trade. Watch Pelicans buy him out, which confirms he's trade value is 0, but salary matching. The only way one can argue Bruce Brown had value is if we sent him to a team that will actually give him minutes.
Kelly O's 2 year deal ended up negative value as we paid a SRP to unload it.
Boucher is untraded.

really telling that I have to explain these to you

What is a value to a team differs. If you are a competing team you want Bruce and Kelly. If you are a rebuilding or tanking team you want their expiring contracts. Look at the Heat when they were asking teams in exchange for Butler their preference was expiring contracts.

Also yes we had to pay a little to unload Kelly’s contract, but the reason why was his contract had another year and if we kept him over Boucher we would be above the luxury tax after resigning Ingram. Going into the luxury tax results in a number of short comings relating to free agents and making trades later on. Not to mention the tax in itself. We needed to maintain the flexibility so that if a big trade came available next year we aren’t a tax apron team. Just look at how handcuffed Milwaukee and Phoenix were. So there is huge value related to that. It’s all part of a bigger picture and play.
