He's been good before he got to us, someone just has to give him a shot. Much worse back-up SG options around the league

With Barnes, RJ, Gradey, JaKobe and Ochai at the wings he would never see the day of light if all these guys
are back next year which I would expect. Don't over value all these D-League guys putting up big numbers against
other tanking teams playing D-League guys this time of year.

Guy Barnes couldn’t even tear up a depleted wizards team. His offense made them look like the **** okc thunder on defense. Give Lawson some **** credit, he made 7 **** 3s, I can’t remember the last time any of our sharpshooters made 7 3s in a game . People neee to stop making dick a defacto part of our future too, he’s not that good I have no idea what people see in him.

He got 12 rebounds as a SG. :o I'd be fine to trade RJ and Dick for a star and have him be on the bench.

Are u saying RJ is nearly an All-Star? Since RJ + Dick Nets an All-Star. If not don't expect such trade. Or you get a crappy All-Star ending up as a lateral move.

A trade that could put us over the top is Scottie, Dick (or Walter or Ochai) plus 3 picks for a disgruntled superstar. That could put us top 4 in the east. Most contenders have at least 1 superstar.

RJ, Dick, Poeltl and Agbaji for KD, Richards and #30

Phoenix is asking for three 1st picks and a young player. Would add other teams to get 1st picks for RJ and Poeltl?

It just made me think though, over the years has there been any player in this scenario - tanking team takes a flyer on g league prospect - that has actually made a name for themselves and carved out a permanent long term role in the league? I can’t think of one.

Two raptors examples: Jamario Moon, Rafer Alston

Edit: Fred and Norm

Norm was a draft pick, Fred was an undrafted signing so neither of them fit the mold of what I was describing.

Idk rafer alstons story, but I guess he might fit and jamario moon I guess fits as well. Though he didn’t necessarily have an extensive career.

I hear you on Fred and Norm, but both spent extensive time in the G-League and weren’t expected to amount to anything.

Probably not, but it's still possible and the return would be much better imo than say RJ or IQ.

why not? nobody is saying trade him for a bag of pucks but if the right opportunity came along, you have to pull the trigger.

The only upgrade I would trade Scottie's defense for would be for like Jokic, Luka, SGA, etc. I would rather trade RJ, Poeltl, Dick, Agbaji, IQ, or whoever else to consolidate the roster.

Lawson seems like better than any SG outside of the top 10, so that is not a position of need. He makes RJ, Dick and Agbaji trade bait to get stars.

Of course, in a vacuum nobody is untouchable. I would stake my house and savings on Scottie being around next year.

Exactly, and what Im saying is we need a superstar not a star, so perhaps Scottie for Giannis type of trade will get us closer to contending.

You may need to use gold for a superstar, is what I'm saying.

What if Giannis is on the move as the Bucks may fail again. Bucks are not Mavs, they will want something back. Call me crazy, I don’t think they'd settle to trade him for RJ and picks. If they do, all the power to Bobby and Masai but it's not realistic imo.

Edit: So I'll pay you $1k if Scottie is a Raptor by April 2026, and you give me yr house if he's traded by then. Will you do it? That is how betting works.

Scottie is more gold-plated than gold but hopefully bucks fo hasn't realized that yet

Not quite. I don’t bet anyway, but I made the statement to suggest my level of confidence. Of course, like with any bet, there’s always a chance I’m wrong.

if anything aj and battle should make gradey, ochai, and walter work even harder this summer...we dont have a lot of playing time off the bench minus the center position

Since his strong 3 games, he has come back down to earth the last 5 games.

21 mins a game
4 for 19 from 3...21%
22 for 38 overall...31.6%
6.2 pts/game

Wonder if he gets a contract offer...even a 2way next year.

Return to Toronto Raptors
