I don't like the 40 minute thing unless NBA America does the same thing.

Yeah 40 minute quarters seems a bit long.

Seriously though if some team like Madrid jumps from the Euroleague to this new league then that’s the beginning of the end for them.

Lol
they mean halves

Silver already hinted at this for NBA but who knows

they actually mean games
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Or will this league just be "Wild West rules" like rest of them?
I've been following European football my whole life.

Transfer fees aren't a lot different than salary cap if the salary is very rich. Most football clubs in top flight have very poor salaries compared to the NBA (with a few that are similar) except for the major outliers (Man City, PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona).

PSG is ridiculous with a 650 mil Euros wage bill

The nba going after the market lost them many domestic fans. Maybe try working with the NCAA so fans care about the development of players. They league is in denial of viewership decrease and how analytics killed the product. The MLB is addressing the latter.

I don't like Silver's moves and this is another one. Expanding to Mexico and Europe is silly and adds a lot more travel to players who are playing less and less games. They should be playing less games not expanding the league.

Secondly, this feels like Donald Trump level expansionism where no one asked for this but it just feels like some US company imposing its will on the world.

Europe has healthy basketball leagues and doesn't need the NBA. I feel like this will only take attention away from their own product and worse it will entice players to leave their league to join the NBA.

Wouldn't it be better to just create academies in all of the continents? Have them play each other at certain times of the year, in tournament format.

Even kids in North America, that don't want to go through a traditional school system, could be invited to those academies.

I'm all for growing the game further in Europe, but please don't bring the modern pansy NBA game to Europe. It's a lot more fun watching Real Madrid than it is the Lakers.
