Re: OT: Denver Nug-gets rid of Booth & Malone
do yall really even think that masai would pull the trigger for Jokic, if it took Barnes and (hypothetically) Flagg, assuming we landed the #1?
I know Jokic will forever be one of a kind but he is 30. So we have maybe 2 or 3 playoff opportunities with him. Kawhi deal didn't cost much, but Barnes + Flagg + most likely 2 more 1sts seems like a hugeee risk. Idk.. for me it's a lot. I would rather do Barnes + Dick + 4 1sts. I wouldnt want to give up Flagg haha

I don’t see a guy like Jokic slowing down at an early age. He’s not dependent on athleticism and can likely play into his mid-late 30s.
I’d much rather give up Barnes and 4 picks but that is not enough in my opinion. I’d easily do Flagg and Barnes plus picks as well because you’re getting one of the greatest basketball players of all-time.

What Jokic is worth and what he would get via trade aren't the same.
Barnes + Flagg + 4 unprotected 1st's is still no where near what he's actually worth, but at the same time no team would give up that much for a 2 year window potentially. What if he walks or retires?
Realistically he would get max 50% of his true value via trade. There's no way for Denver to recoup his full value and the offers would be no where near it.

KD got Bridges + 4 1sts and a swap. I'm sure there are many teams that would be willing to give up that package for Jokic. Now, most of the teams with a shot at Flagg don't have other pieces for the move to make sense for them, but I'd bet at least one of Toronto, Sixers, Spurs or Blazers would be am equivalent offer for Jokic.
Flagg + Barnes + 1sts for Jokic is a no brainer to me. You are getting the best player in the NBA. Your expected value in 3 years is probably higher than the expected value of what you give up in 10 years.

It’s a tough one man. But one things for sure… I don’t think anything beats Barnes + Flagg + 1sts. Not even okc’s Chet + JWill

That's what I was thinking when I proposed it. As awesome as it would be to watch Flagg on this team, growing with Barnes and the other guys, If those guys plus another couple 1sts maybe gets you Jokic, I don't see how you can NOT pull the trigger.

You keep one of Barnes or Flagg.
Barnes or Flagg + 4 1sts + other pieces (Jakob + Dick, etc..) for Jokic.
What's out there that would beat Flagg + 4 1sts as the foundation of an offer? Chet + JWill is not a better offer in my opinion. Amen + 4 1sts isn't either.
Teams like Houston, OKC etc...don't have a single piece better than Flagg that would realistically be offered.

I’m thinking IQ, RJ, one of the young guys, a gazillion picks (around 5). We have Ingram, Scottie, Cooper and Jokic as the core.

Scottie is useless if we get Jokic

Disagree, he'd just need to adjust his game (which he would anyway playing with someone like Jokic)

I think this offer would get crushed by other teams.

IQ is more valuable than Barnes on a Jokic team - he needs a pick and roll partner. If you're Denver, would you rather move Murray or Gordon?

Oh for sure, but that’s probably our all in move.

Actually I'd disagree with that.
Jokic is amazing at everything but defense. You really need good defenders around him to have a chance to win. Scottie is exactly the kind of defender you want beside a guy like Jokic. Finding a decent pick and roll guy is way easier than finding an elite defender.
Jokic, Barnes, a dynamic scoring guard and then a roster of 3 and D guys.
That said Denver should never trade Jokic. They should be the ones looking to trade for Scottie

Re: OT: Denver Nug-gets rid of Booth & Malone
I have a theory on this...or at least a hypothesis.
I wonder if the owners decided that they think they'll have the best chance at a chip if joker essentially becomes a player-coach. During the game last night joker was drawing up plays and basically acting as a coach during timeouts.
It's possible they think joker should be calling ALL the shots and that there was no way Malone was gonna defer to him. So even stuff like rotations....joker and the intern coach discuss everything before the game and joker lays out gameplans and such.
It would be pretty incredible if the nuggets won the chip under these circumstances.
