It's likely the years and more money. He's no spring chicken, and arguably the worst year of his career. Aint no way he's making more on the open market. Mans put up a 51.5% TS% year lol, that's impressively bad, even for him.

It's was the worst fantasy league basketball season of his career. And let's not even talk about how bad he looks in nba2k.


But in the real world, he led his team to the 4th best record in the league.

That said....he should take a much higher payout than 25%. He was clearly overpaid to a HUGE DEGREE because of where Houston was at the time. Amazing move by rockets.

Fred should take a 50% pay cut tho. Sign on for 2 years/40 million. He's definitely worth more than that...but its a way of equalling out the initial overpay while letting the franchise become a serious contender.

Making it 4 years for 120 or 30 million per year which is his worth.
