For all those people that were saying Masai failed by not extending/re-signing him, this is exactly why he didn't. Siakam is a fantastic #2, we never had a true #1 outside of Kawhi. Not a knock on the guy, but he is who he is, and he cannot carry a team, we've seen this year after year.

You don't need a #1 option you just need a good team. pacers proved it and got unlucky . alot of guys exposing themselves as boxscore watchers tonight. Haliburton aint a #1 option either yet they nearly won

Felt like they should have actually tried Siakam as the number 1 today.

Mathurin wanted to take over the game while Siakam disappeared at the end.

They decided to go with McConnel as a #1 option tonight because they had no ball handlers. if your a big and you can't get the ball what can you do?

Pascal was always a #2/#3 option, I pointed out the last round he had around 70% of his baskets assisted these playoffs, Hali made it easy for him to be himself. Nothing wrong with that.

I was looking for the 2 or 3 posters that always shat on the raptors for trading him for nothing after good games. Nowhere to be found.

He's a good player but he's like the Catwoman to the Batman and Robin.

Hes clearly a good #2.. Not a #3. This has been proven. The fact that you're still saying he's not even a robin is sick stuff. Hateful sick stuff.

Funny you mention boxscore watchers. Only boxscore watchers think that Hali isn't a legitimate superstar. Some people can't comprehend that a player's impact can run deeper than just PPG.

I mean he was outplayed by pascal in the last two rounds and likely the entire playoffs. he's certainly not a legitimate superstar maybe a fringe one. and he just had a career altering injury so I guess it doesn't matter now.

what would you call a superstar top 10? to me its like top 8 and he isn't that he remind me of lowry for sure

He got outscored by Pascal, the same way Nash got outscored by Amare and Marion and CP3 got outscored by Blake. A PG's impact goes beyond scoring.

the narrative in this thread is comical.

Before this run, half of you were saying Pacers wouldn't get past Bucks, Cleveland, and Knicks. then you said they would get swept by OKC, and they took them to seven games. Pascal was a big reason why, but the usuals suspects are coming on here and spouting "see I told you so" lol.

The Pacers just took the best team, a 68 win team to 7 games and lost because Hali went down and the Pacers went away from what they made them a team. TJ is not Hali and never got Pascal involved, and Carlisle sat him too long. It was an uphill battle for them to win and even harder without Hali. Siakam was the best player on the team and they didn't get him involved more. Like Duff said they should actually have gone ISO with Pascal, at least he can pass and get others involved. As good as TJ was they lost because he didn't get anyone involved. As soon as I saw TJ go off, I knew it was over for them.

The better team won, and that had nothing to do with Siakam. Pascal wasn't going to single handedly win it for the Pacers, OKC is too good especially with Hali out.

I’m not sure how him single-handedly not being able to carry a lesser talented, undermanned team, in game 7 of the nba finals, against the best team in the league, with the reigning mvp, is somehow being used as a knock on siakam.

He’s not Michael **** Jordan we know that. And guess what? It’s quite possible that even Michael Jordan couldn’t have won them this game… can’t believe people are **** on siakam for this. Also, did you guys not watch the pacers all playoffs? They don’t just iso siakam every possession… they’re extremely guard dominated… siakam is just a piece in their system… yes he’s their leading scorer, but they don’t run their entire offense through him… I said this in another thread, but I was surprised at how little they actually gave the ball to him in scenarios where they needed a basket… they just don’t play basketball in a way that will force feed him points.

I mean, he didn't have his best play in Game 7. Fourth quarter was a little limp, but the game was lost in the third anyway, and he sat for half of it for some reason.

But yeah. That game wasn't on Siakam. Losing Hali was a HUMONGOUS blow, and Pascal isn't a tier-1 guy, so expecting him to somehow pull it out of the bag for Indy was way too much.
