RJ for Porzingis next.

So we aiming for most injury prone team in history now?

If we traded for Porz our starting 5 would probably miss a combine 150 games

I think Brown is definitely available. The two untouchables for Boston should be JT and White

So Portland got the worse contract, the older player and gave up two second rounders to help Boston save $40 million?

Bostons window was closed so they dumped Jrues salary who’s getting close to retirement anyways. Not really sure Simons was a good target though, doesn’t really fit Bostons style of play.

I dunno Jrue seems pretty washed. I still don’t see them as a playoff team in the west.

Jrue def a mentor-type addition for their young guards in Scoot/Sharpe as they try to take another leap forward into play-in competition next season.

Don't discount what adding the right vets can add to a young team figuring things out. Look at what THJ/Beasley/Harris gave the Pistons last season. Simons is a good scorer but can't defend for shite. He wasn't helping them long-term. Def a Billups-inspired move

I think they'll surprise a lot of people. Scoot/Sharpe/Deni/Camara/Clingan with Jrue/Thybulle/Grant/Timelord and I guess there's Ayton too lol. Plus whomever they draft this year like an Essengue, for example. Maybe Jakucionis? The West is a buzzsaw but that team is super young and has time on its side.

Why do you want to trade for a player that makes us worse?

Blazers finished the year 23-18. I think they are keeping him. Looking to compete.

I think Boston actually blows things up a lot more than people realize.

With JT out they know next year is a lost cause. Some of their guys getting older. Why try to win-now next year, when they can restack the pieces and get more flexibility.

All they need is JT, White, Pritchard, everyone else I think they should try to monetize on. They can draft, develop some guys, free up some cap space for 2026 and push the chips in again to make a run. The way their payroll is constructed its just not sustainable.

Jrue is old and overpaid, but his actual on court value is still a lot higher than Simons.

Simons is a one-dimensional, inefficient scorer who has been in the league for 7 years now. This is who he is.

Jrue is still a top defensive player who can guard multiple spots. While the shot isn't great, he's still a solid ballhandler, playmaker, and rebounder.

You mean health wise right?

Porzingis is a significantly better basketball player.

Competitive market for Jrue.

I buy the reports that they could flip him again for value. The Celtics were looking for cap relief and the Blazers likely don't care about that for a return contract and whatever added value it would bring.

No way Jose (Calderon)

Jrue for RJ made a lot of sense for "all-in" trade scenarios where we got Giannis or KD.

Not surprised we were in those convos during KD trade talk.

I love Jrue. Paying him mid 30s for the next 3 years is scary to me.

He is showing signs of slowing down. At the same time I think he has a Lowry/Conley level impact on competitive teams and will likely be viable for the next few years.

In context, these are scenarios where you're trying to build a team to contend after you've given up assets for an aging star that may not be around longer than a year or 2.

And then you have to ask yourself how you get a player that's better than RJ by just mainly trading RJ. A ball handler who's a good 3pt shooter and still far better defender (declining, of course) than RJ fits the bill. The last year of his deal he's just an expiring to fling in a trade after that old star is gone anywa

Great trade for Boston. There were talks that they have to add a pick to get off of Jrue’s contract and they got a productive player back and two second round picks back plus saved some money. Portland upgrades their defence and has a mentor to Scoot and Sharpe. Both teams set out to do what they need to do.
