Or you could take a look at the tape and stats and decide for yourself. Masai has a good eye but is not infallible and often falls in love with projects.
He and Tolzman are still the best drafting FO of the past decade. I'm confident that they i) have more tape than you and I have access to, ii) can better interpret the tape better than you or I can, and iii) can better project off that data than you and I will ever be able to.
Also, you call it falling in love with projects, some will call it taking calculated risks and living with the results. For every Bruno, there is a Pascal Siakam.
Well I would hope they have better info than me! Despite their success, they also have tendencies and a degree of hubris when it comes to projects. Siakam was an accomplished scorer coming out of New Mexico and a very good defender. Of course, it took scouting to identify him and courage to believe he would translate, but the key things that make him special were already there. Same for Scottie, same for OG. It’s when they look at players as lumps of clay that can be folded (Bruno, Koloko, Dewan Hernandez, Chomche) that they make mistakes. I just happen to think that this is one of those times if Noa is the target, and it happens to be at a critical juncture for the team. I’ve explained many times why I think this with Noa.
Of course. I could be wrong, and I hope that I am if he’s the pick. I’m just expressing an opinion and concern
I dont think its fair to put koloko or dewan in the same category. Both had their careers derailed by injuries and both were contributors on high level college programs. Despite noa being raw and young he was still a contributor on a professional team full of grown men its not the same situation as bruno and comche being found out of nowhere and barely playing basketball at a high level anywhere. The front office has never took the bruno type gamble with a high pick so if they take noa i dont think it'll be purely off of measurements
