seemingly i am in the minority in liking this trade for pelicans

expiring contracts are good, if they lead somewhere. if not its better to roll them forwards into other contracts.
being 15 mil under the cap is useless, you might as well be 20 mil above the cap and even if that $35 is wasted on a role player because atleast you have another player, another asset, another piece to go do something.

Yah, I think it's a good trade for both sides. Poole just had the best year of his career and is a really good fit with Dejounte/TMIII/Herb/Zion. Won't give you much on the defensive end, but the Pelicans are pretty loaded with wing stoppers & defensive PGs

Washington cleaned up. They got 2 expirings and a pick and cleared over 40M in contract commitments for the 26/27 season.

Wiz have been making good moves lately. Even though they are bringing in washed up vets, they are all high character guys with shorter term remaining.

Dumars might be a worse GM than Nico. I feel like Wizards should have given up more to get rid of Poole's contract.

Taking on an extra year of Poole instead of letting CJ expire for basically nothing is worse than trading the Pacers pick before the finals ended.

Call up Dumas now and offer him up basically anything. See what he'll give you for Jak. See if you can get Herb Jones for him or something. Anything is possible.

I actually like this trade for the Wizards. They could potentially have a 100 million in cap space next season and there’s an opportunity to reset the team and build around the youth.

Surprisingly Poole has become an efficient offensive player last season. Still not sure how he fits with the Pelicans but whatever
