Also we have to find a way to sign battle. Is there still room for him on the team?

Are they like not happy with Shead? Martin and now Hepburn? Aren't those three basically quite similar?

Tha Cynic wrote:I think Masai's inspiration was most likely the Billups Pistons knowing it would be difficult to get a star. You get very good players at every position who play tough defense. That has evolved into different variations with the Rockets, Magic, Celtics and OKC. Personally I love these defensive style teams.

Unless you have an MVP on the roster you are hoping for a “sum greater than the parts” situation on offense. How far a team like that can go comes down to their level of defense.

Most good teams have 3 PGs and 3 guys who can play C effectively on their roster. We are missing a 3rd PG, backup C and 3rd C.

Yup. Competition.

Ideally having 3 pgs on the roster is good (can be a combo guard in the mix)
Last year we had IQ Shead and Mitchell. Mitchell is gone...

We filled two of our roster holes this draft... The back up C is obviously still lacking but we've filled our backup/combo depth with these guys.

How about any big who is NBA caliber. I'm sick of seeing teams with better 3rd/4th Centers than we have backups. Figure your crap out Masai...

Relax. They said before the draft they were likely looking at the backup C spot in free agency.

The Toronto Raptors are NBA Champions. They beat the Golden State Warriors, one of the best teams the league's ever seen, and made it look easier than a six-game series suggests. The Raptors defence held the Warriors to 105.8 points per game, a dozen less than Golden State averaged during the regular season.

Kinda hilarious people don't understand who started this new blueprint of one star and a bunch of dawgs defensively

That 2019 was a menace defensively, its crazy how people forget how many defenders we could throw, and then you had Gasol/Ibaka protecting the rim. That 2019 Raptors team is the best defensive team post hand checking, and they had a crazy good offense.

Shead or ANYONE (including Barnes) isnt stopping Masai from improving the team. People need to realize, we need talent.

Im loving this direction & approach from Masai.

Basically.

But we have excess wing depth so a trade for a quality big isn't out of the question.

Honestly just bringing Boucher back would be fine for now.

If anything, this trio of rookies is gonna push our starters to toughen up offensively

No, it wouldn't be fine. Your team should not collapse when an average starting Center in Poeltl is out.

If anything, that should tell you the importance of trying to get another player near his skill level.

Raptors should be signing bigs, we don’t need that many guards anymore

Boucher is not the answer, rinse and repeat all over. Is Masai trying to get himself fired?
