Even if you don't think Gafford's a much better player, he's objectively the better player right now and still making less money.

No, I'm basing it on a 2 year trend where he's been regressing after 1 good full season without much of a track record of success otherwise (Played 1755 mins total first 3 seasons). That's not exactly a good sign for someone in their mid 20's who should be approaching if not already in their prime.

How many good full seasons has RJ had exactly?

Claxton is a great defender, and you’re worried about TS% in a year he played with g league talents beside him.

We’re probably done here. You refuse to acknowledge any context lol

24/25 Nets 115.4 DRTG Claxton 116.2 DRTG
Slightly better defensively with him off the floor than on it and really bad defensively overall

23/24 Nets 115.4 DRTG Claxton 114.1 DRTG
Bit better with him on the floor than off, but D was still bad.

22/23 Nets 113.5 DRTG Claxton 111.3 DRTG
Better with him on the floor than off and overall really good defensively with Claxton that year, but can he regain that form?

So, we can see the defense regressing as well in addition to the offense. Calling him a "great" defender seems generous.

Well that’s a flawed approach.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Ok, let's just call him a great defender then.

Listen, defensively - we're monsters.

But we still need a backup center and more 3pt shooting.

we have a backup center in small spurts (Barnes, Mgobo, CMB)

If you haven't noticed the need of a true backup Center from watching this team over the past 5 years then I don't know what to tell you.

Those guys are fine to rely on as your 3rd/4th Centers or when you want to play small ball strategically for spurts.

Whatever is left a guy like Castleton can do the job. Not sure what is available is worth the price or much of an upgrade. CMB will take a lot of minutes unless you can find a young future star better off saving those assets

Well what should we believe? Defensive stats (which are team stats, not individual stats) during years he has garbage teammates OR should we trust the fans who watch the guy 82 times per year that say he’s good-great?

Fact of the matter - last time he had a competent team around him he was great.

What’s more likely? He forgot how to play basketball at 23 years old OR centers can get the short end of the stick when they have incompetency around them?

Tough to say.

Raps going full tilt defense

Would be odd to continue with RJ

IQ is a better player and Gradey is 21 entering his 3rd season. There’s a reason why RJ’s name continues to come up in trade rumours.
