If they really wanted Giannis they should have traded for a pick to draft him in 2013. Now we can let this Giannis stuff rest. Maybe Atlanta can deal with this when Ujiri lands there

Trying to get him was what started Masai Ujiri's downfall in the first place.

So glad we have Rogers and suit Pelley to kill our 14th year of brand equity respect. Some fans want to change their top brass like was either their kid's or their own diapers. Masai was a giant for the Raps and the thing we do not need is a suit picking a new suit to be the confidant of the non basketball figurehead running mlse. The fact they go to an outside agency in California is like when Richard Peddie, a marketing guy, hired 80+ Jack McKloskey to go after rookie cheap Rob Babcock. Lot's of great people available but Bobby will not be the new President's guy rather he/she will be the voice that speaks to the guy who keeps Edward III lineage on brief.

Blah blah blah. You are barking up the wrong tree dude.

What you say and what I'm saying can be true at the same time as I was referring to people just assuming presence of Ujiri means luring Giannis should be easy and we should go after him no matter the state of the team when that's far from the truth and if he was going to be here, he would be already.

You'd also have to be blind to not see that trying to time everything to Giannis free agency last time (which never came) was the first domino that kinda put things out of whack for Ujiri when he ended up signing extension with Bucks. Not necessarily the worst thing he could've done at the time but it did force him to do things that aren't ideal before and after.

We just lost a lot of connections and good will with Masai leaving this way. Rogers has no idea yet but they damaged things here.

You missed a level of suits there. A suit who picked a suit will now pick a new suit.

Glad theyre cutting costs though. Sports franchises always need more suits at the top that dont understand their core business. Thats the key to success

And they'll continue to send pushy clipboard warriors to our front doors to hard sell faster internet. Maybe Landry Fields is now returning to the place that gave him a deal nobody else would... Remember the days when Canadian Steve Nash at 38 would not sign with us no matter what? Matt Barnes and John Salmons both flip flopped on signing with us which incidentally were business decisions not a basketball ones.

Cheer up, Masai can't possibly be the only one who could be the VP.

To be honest, lately, he probably neglected his job a lot, he was more in Africa for his charities and african basketball, than in Toronto. When they pay you 10M a year, they probably expect you on the job 24/24 especially when the business doesn't go well. It's like that in the top tier corporate executive level, usually. This is just my guess BTW, based on some reports.

He was never coming here, not the first time, and not this time. Let it go.
