Brook Lopez had a sneaky decent year. He played 80 games and put up 13 PPG and shot 37% from 3 on nearly 5 attempts per game. Turner played 70 games, put up 15 PPG on 39% from 3 on 5.5 attempts.

I wonder if just re-signing Lopez and using that Dame money on some scoring help for Giannis would have been a better option. Turner is a good player, but he's more of a last piece to a championship team and the Bucks aren't one piece away.

They are all set to implode, imo

If Bucks weren't finished before, they certainly are now

Giannis is gone within the next 12 months

what a disaster Horst has made

Good for the Bucks for not simply rolling over;
Turner must have led the NBA in trade rumours for the better part of the last five seasons, I am a little surprised he bolted so fast and so early into free agency but good on him for getting his bag.

Brook Lopez in the playoffs:
5 pts, 1.6 rbs, 1 blk on .517 TS in 15 minutes. He was unplayable. Oh and he’s 37 years old. I wouldn’t be using regular season as a barometer. Lopez was cooked. Somehow Tuner is still only 28 and Bucks basically rewound the clock to a younger version of Lopez. Based on who was signed and who’s still out there, Turner was probably the best player they would get for the space they created with Dame.

Not a big fan of Turner, I think this ends badly for the Bucks.

Specifically, I always felt he should be better defensively. He doesn't suffer from Ayton or even KAT levels of disengagement, but he's not as physical or active as you'd hope, which is a shame because when his head is in it he's really good! Hasn't rebounded well, but part of that is just being away from the basket shooting 3s semi-regularly.

Not sure if that qualifies as a hot take given he has a reputation as a "defender" and got some DPOY votes when he was younger and hunting blocks more aggressively, just my observation.

His long-range shooting has been a differentiator but also not difficult to shut down 2 years in a row now. The Pacers probably looked at what scaled well vs. what didn't work in their run and prioritized accordingly.

Damn I really feel for Indy.

A young up and coming team that just reached the conference finals and within 1 game from the chip...all too have it snatched away with their best player suffering a horrible injury and now losing their center just a week later.

These are the consequences for overpaying players like Pascal.

This move actually makes sense though. Lillard is gone for the whole year, and who knows what he will be next season, and he clearly did not want to be in Milwaukee (reports of him being very happy to be waived).

Clearly Giannis is being moved in the next year, so now they have a C that pairs nicely with him, they can develop chemistry, and then Horst can package both to a new team for a significant return either at the trade deadline or next offseason.

Now, all of the other moves made prior to this were generally horrible panic moves, reacting to Giannis' requests.

I don't think the move was made with the intent to package Turner and Giannis together in a deal, that's $80 million in salary. It's all about maximizing the time left they have with Giannis.

Nah. U got some bad takes. This move is horrendous along with a lot of their trades and picks. Horst running the Bucks into the ground. As a GM you want to leave the team in a better position then when u last left it. Giannis or not he’s complete destroyed that franchise.

Yeah it's an attempt to keep Giannis by adding a player who play like Lopez. If it doesn't work, you still have Turner who you could move...maybe to NO to get some picks back.

It at least gives them options. I do wonder if CP3 goes there next.
