only need Battle to add core strength + improve his defense, and he'd be a useful rotation player. Easier said than done though.

Addendum to Blake's note up there - although it is indeed not a team option, they wouldn't want him to hit RFA at 2 years anyway (full Bird Rights come after year 3), so if they are "opting out" by waiving him it's to move on, so little downside to the non-guaranteed year instead. More flexibility in using him as trade filler at the draft compared to a team option.

I am super high on Battle and am looking forward to him having a bigger role in the rotation. Very crafty, extremely confident in his abilities, played a very controlled style but not afraid to make his moves and take shots. If he can enhance his athleticism it will give him a much deeper bag
