Love it, no brainer move for both sides. Helps develop the yutes, definitely see Dame becoming a Coach for POR in 5 years. Even injured he'll be huge for teaching that young core.

They want to sell the team and are seemingly having a hard time attracting a bid they would take from someone who would keep the team in Portland. This move and the Yang selection are moves from an ownership/FO trying to keep the Blazers there.

Awful basketball move, but keeping your team is worth much more than the next 3-5 years.

I was really expecting him to play for a contender.

Yeah this actually an investment in Scoot. Imagine being able to learn from two all star PGs without worrying about your minutes. Portland’s an interesting case where they have so many complimentary pieces but no tier 1 guy.

I like this a lot for Dame, and I like this a fair bit for Portland. Even if dame is 1/2 the player he once was, he’s on a contract that pays him like he’s 1/5 the player so in that way, it’s a deal. That said, I’m not sure about Portland’s team composition - and they’re effectively paying 14 mil for dame to sit for a year. Still - for the love and loyalty alone I’m about it.
I believe in Masai.

Love this for Portland. Dame should never have left, his kids are still there and he rehabs in Portland even.

Now Portland recouped it's future and has Dame back. Great business for them. They even looked pretty good towards the end of last season. They are a great small market story in the making.

Whether it works or not on the court, selling nostalgia is always a moneymaker for the team

Its nice to see an athlete towards the end of his career opt for the most money available to him rather than taking a min contract to chase a ring.

Good on Dame!

Imagine we traded Scottie for this washed bum like some people wanted.

In Baseball you cannot "Double-dip", if you are released with salary remaining then any contract you sign offsets salary for the same period - I'd like to see that in Basketball.

It was more than just losing Scottie. According to Webster, the offer for Damian was their biggest offer ever: “I’d say probably the biggest offer we’ve ever made for a player, but it’s up to them to accept it.

Masai was thus twice saved from making a calamitous trade: this one and the other was James Dolan's last minute overrule of the Lowry trade.

Biggest offer yet and yet Lillard was had for 33 year old Jrue Holiday, a FRP and two pick swaps. I’m going to let you exercise some common sense here.

I'm happy for Dame. He wanted to go try and win a ring, it didn't work out for him

When he went to Milwaukee, there was a lot of excitement about what he and Giannis could do together. They never quite lived up to the hype, Middleton got hurt, Giannis got hurt, and Dame got hurt. He also went through some personal struggles during the time

Now he has probably come to terms with the fact he isn't going to win a ring, he's okay with that. He gets to finish his career back home in Portland, and they added a bunch of young talent over the last couple of years. It's a good situation for him, he can be a vet to young guys
