in the past they would do a lot of team interviews for coaches and players. none were done this year.

I didn't mean to and 1 this. Comche doesn't suck. He is offensively challenged and goes up soft. He's not an NBA big man yet. And maybe will never be. He's showed promise defensively nonetheless.
Yeah. This was Chomches only poor showing at Summer League, but he wasn't the only one. Other than Shead, most of the players had an off game. I don't know if it was because they were missing their veteran leader (AJ) or what, but the team didn't look the same from the jump. They didn't do the things that earned them a 4-0 record..
Overall, I gave Chomche's development an "A" over the past year. The kid's growth has been very impressive. Let's not forget, he was 18 years old this time last year, coming from a tiny village in Africa.
Still only 19 years old for another 6 months.
It just felt like a regular season Raptor's game. Refs hit key players with a bunch of very weak foul calls early in the first and that threw us off. Plus our shooting sucked for all of the first half. But the BS foulapalooza to start the game was what lost it for us.

It was personal and financial. They cleaned house. Shanahan, Manning and Masai. Ownership wanted to have their own guys in. Similar to what they did with the Jays.
I think it was more financial than personal, but the only way that can be proven fully correct is if they end up promoting Bobby to President and Tolzman to GM (fire the existing president with a 15M yearly salary and just promote his cheaper former underlings instead of replacing him with an outside hire).
The fact that Pelley repeated that Rogers wanted a "businessman" for the position was interesting. First of all, the term is sexist as hell, and suggestive of preferring white candidates. Not a very woke thing to say.
Secondly, why the F do they need a "businessman" to be president of basketball operations? Pelley said the person wasn't going to be responsible for ticket prices or marketing? Does a player agent qualify? I'm just hoping they like Bobby cuz he's a numbers guy, and business is about numbers.
Actually "business" isn't really about numbers - it should primarily be about encouraging creativity within the organization in product design and marketing. But bean counters can't stand that, and are always trying to kill the goose that laid the golden eggs.

On a side note if we are talking the business of the Raptors, if they were smart, they would market the Raptors just as they do with the Blue Jays.
Even during our championship run, the Raptors never got the high end production or publicity that they deserved / hit their potential

That was done on purpose. Can't remember where I read it either Wolstat or Lewenberg but it came from the top that team staff outside of the head coach or prominent players were not allowed to speak to the media during SL. It's why you saw Scottie or Darko be the only persons to even speak. It's due to the Masai firing and the ongoing replacement for him.

"Obviously, whoever comes into that position has massive shoes to fill. It will need to be a prominent, successful business leader." This was the original statement. Not sure if he used the word 'businessman' after that, but I don't think it's much of anything.
I don't know if Ed Rogers prefers white candidates, but he did try and replace Paul Beeston with Kenny Williams as president of the Blue Jays.

While I agree with most of it, I still wished they prioritized roster construction to an extent. If we were still rebuilding then its fine but when youre a tax team, there's a reason why everyone around the league is clowning on us.
I still expect us to be better than what most believe we will next year. However, that can change with 1 injury to Poeltl where we continue to being one of the laughing stocks of the nba.
We are gonna get clowned regardless lol. Even in 2019 no one considered us legitimate contenders. That’s just the way it is. Fact is us being a tax team at this time really doesn’t matter and I’m not sure how it reflects on our team. Winning will solve everything and make a lot of these experts sound stupid.
Why the **** do you guys care if they are in the tax. What moral obligation do the fans have to be corncerned if their team is spending money. Raptors fans are obsessed I swear. They clearly are very happy with spending this money. They wanna get back to being a yearly playoff team because the amount of money that generates the Rogers monopoly is worth WAY more than the money they will be spending in the luxary tax.

Yeah, fair enough. The concept came up a couple of times during the presser. I thought at one point toward the end Pelley said "businessman", but I'm too lazy to go back and check. In any case, WTF is a "business leader" in the context of a President of Basketball Ops. It doesn't sound like Kenny Williams.
