Re: Raptors waive Colin Castleton
Always felt like he was signed only to have in case we needed him in a trade. Like if we needed to add a throw in to bridge the gap in $.
I don't think they had any intention of keeping him

Nope. No roster spots available for another wing. Plus...not convinced OMax is any good.

Pretty easy to infer why: Orlando Robinson probably didn't want to accept a deal where he got $0 guaranteed, and Castleton was willing to accept that.
We also couldn't have offered Orlando a 2-way deal at the time, because Castleton was signed after the deadline to sign players to 2-way deals.
That was my interpretation of it. I think Orlando felt he could get a better offer. Something more concrete.

Yeah if we add someone for a 2nd, it needs to be for a C better than Mamu....or a PG better than Shead. If not, then it's a waste.

robinson and castleton both got good minutes from us at end of season and both contributed enough fuel towards the tank thank you

We are allowed to carry 21 guys if I am not mistaken and now with Castleton being waived we are at 19 so I don't believe he was even standing in the way of signing another exhibit 10 deal. Probably we just wanted to cut him loose cause he sucks and this is nothing.
There's a couple of Exhibit 10 deals that have been reported but not officially announced, so we're probably using the roster spot on those guys.
We have the 14 guaranteed contracts, AJ Lawson as a non-guaranteed, and the three two-ways which brings us the total to 18.
David Roddy was officially announced on an Exhibit 10, and Tyson Degenhart and Clifford Omoruyi have been reported to sign but haven't officially yet, so those guys are probably #20 & #21 for the camp roster

Not sure what they saw in him in the first place. He was worse than Orlando Robinson.

It's not like they were trying to win anything. He stood up for JKW that's worth something. The guys seemed to like him. I figured they kept him over Orlando because he could theoretically shoot. A KO replacement for temporary while tanking is all.

Pending CMB's play and what we get from Mamu, yeah, it does actually sound decent when framed in the context of bench upgrades. Between that and hopefully having 65+ games from Poeltl, should be decent.

ill never understand why people care so much about guys like this to the point that theyre excited that theyre gone. Every team has end of the bench players that are just practice guys and those guys will always be coming and going. If by some rare chance you randomly find a player there its found money. The Raptors have done this in the past, maybe thats why some people expect it

Agreed. As much as Robinson isn't a world beater by any means, he can at least be a serviceable third string center. Castleton isn't even a 15th man.
And Robinson just signed with a good team in Orlando to be that serviceable 3rd center.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Technically they have 3 Cs under contract, Robinson would be 4th,espn has him 5th on the depth charts behind Issac, yes Wagner is coming off an injury,
Robinson nor Castleton should have anyone uptight about anything if that is the case

True. Maybe the Magic will make a move with one of their top 3 centers
