No, he hasn't. His current 54.6% TS is identical to his efficiency from last season.

I said offensive effeciency, not shooting effeciency.

His Ortg, OBPM, WS/48, AST%, FTA per 36, PER, etc. are all up from last year.

Fair. He's gone from -3.2 OBPM to -1.7, his PER is 11.3 instead of 8.9, his WS/48 has moved from .010 to .033 and his FTr is up from .115 to .239. These are all moves in the correct direction. He even improved from 18% to 20.9% in proportion of shots in the RA, which was good to see.

This is a smart move. There is no sense continuing to play him when he can start focusing on gaining strength/ mass right now.

Dick has been out since March 4 when teammate RJ Barrett fell on him in a scramble and the second-year wing suffered a bone bruise to his knee, among other less significant injuries. The focus for Dick in his down time, said Rajakovic, is to get a head start on his off-season lifting program to add some mass to his thin frame.

good breakdown from sampson for gradey here

the gravity is still there and helps the offense out. a lot more than say IQ. but he def needs to improve his body and defense
but if his percentages can climb up especially on guarded 3's ... this will escalate him as a player greatly

starts around 33 min but highlighting this note

Is mass gonna make him a 40% shooter

It'll start helping him with defense, and with getting to and finishing better at the rim, at least.

He needs to work on his composure, I think, because he was struggling considerably as soon as a defender was 4-6 feet away (35.3%), whereas he was shooting 43% when he was wide open (from 3). And then the 1 3PA he took per game when a defender was in tight, he was brutal, shot like 14%.

So he's basically already a 40% shooter... when he's wide open, which is good, he just needs to clean it up when the defender gets a little closer. And then obviously needs to keep working on attacking closeouts. And on his defense, and rebounding. Size will help some of that. Hopefully, confidence and reps will help a little with the rest.

We'll see, I guess.

From the Scottie thread...

Yep. Super small sample size, but watching Gradey play those games, you could see the offensive potential.

I also maintain that Gradey has gotten a really tough whistle for the first two seasons. I think his finishing is better than the stats suggest.

His FTr was actually .240 in 24-25, which was juuuuust below league average (99 FTr+). Major improvement over year two. One wonders what it will look like this year if he keeps attacking close-outs and getting to the rim (he also slightly increased from 18.0% in the RA to 20.7% in terms of shot proportion, while taking about 4.5 more FGA/g).

So the potential is there, as are signs of improvement. Needs to hit lightly-contested 3s a little better, but he's got some promise, for sure.

Yeah I was being quite serious, not sarcastic. Good way to kick this thread forward with some positivity.

Out of all our young players, Gradey probably has the most potential to improve his game

He needs a handle then I don't have any hope for his defense. He's too weak and slow.
