Is there anyone who thinks we would have taken him at 31 even if he and Scottie weren’t friends?

I mean, there aren't many players taken after Mogbo who had a better rookie season than him

Very true. And I don’t know where this idea that would have for sure taken Filipowski if we didn’t draft Mogbo is coming from. Because I know when people say this they’re usually thinking about Filipowski. I have no clue who else had a good rookie season in that second round. Also just because someone has a better rookie season does not mean they will have the better career when it’s all said and done. It’s too early to say. And even if Mogbo ends up out of the league it’s not that big of a deal, most second round picks don’t make it in the NBA. You win some and you lose some.

Odds are Filipowski's agent (or the man himself) let us know that he wanted to go to Utah, and that he'd be a very unhappy camper if we drafted him. The second round seems so much more rigged this way. Or maybe I should say manipulated.

Yeah, I wanted Filipowski at 31 and was hoping we'd find a way to get Mogbo around where we drafted Shead. But hey, I didn't expect Masai's magic, and I'm quite happy with Shead, so I'm not too worried we didn't get Filipowski. At least right now.

Flip wanted to goto Utah. He’s also pretty anti everything we know about what raptors like in their prospects. Bad measurements bad defence and maybe they thought bad character as well if you allowed a groomer to take you away from your family.

I’m absolutely not losing any sleep over Filipowski or anyone else taken after Mogbo. He was a fine pick and showed some things as a rookie. Maybe he works out, maybe he doesn’t.

People seem to associate the whole “most 2nd rounders don’t make it” as though they never play a game ever, and since Mogbo has, he’s definitely an NBA player and now it’s a question of “how good will he be?”

I don’t think he’s at that point yet. I wonder if we’d show the same grace to a 23 year old 2nd rounder who put up 6/5 on 50% TS on another team.

mogbo has intriguing length, along with ball handling and passing, but he struggles with everything else basically...hes an older 2nd year guy so this is a big season for him, he does need to show some sort of improvement

The entire 2024 draft class was pretty mid, Raptors did well with their 2nd rounders and it was highly likely Mogbo would've been drafted regardless.
