Trade looks cooked up by someone who doesn't mind if the raps get fleeced.

Tomorrow is the deadline to waive and stretch a player and reduce their cap impact for the 2025/2026 season. There may be some surprising moves coming. Like Celtics waiving and stretching Simons and getting below the tax line completely, though that would cost them a cap hit of over 9 million a season.
Also, though I have been accused of being crazy for suggesting it, I think Demar is a waive and stretch candidate because he has a partial guarantee next year and can be stretched over 5 years. Less surprising would be Dwight Powell being stretched in Dallas to make room for signing Exum under the 2nd apron. Anyway something is likely to happen tomorrow even if it isn’t the most exciting move ever.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Barrett, Agbaji, and a 2nd for Simons is the worst trade I've seen in a long time. I'd rather keep RJ and re-sign him to be a bench player.

"Picks that were offered were not good as well." Who says that ? In 2021 there were no trade talks surrounding fvv, siakam, og etc. It was known that NN and MU wanted to compete. The contract of each of them was good and tradeable and had lots of years left. And their value was at peak. MU started talks around 2023.
Without any doubt we would've been a more attractive team right now if we started the real full rebuild thru the draft after the day we picked @ #4 in 2021.

Every other team that was in the lottery with us back then looks more promising than we do.

The 5 worst teams from 4 seasons ago:

OKC
HOU
DET
ORL
IND

Good thing we didn’t pivot to a tank and end up like the teams above.

Detroit isn’t a good team. Indiana didn’t get better through the lottery but rather through trades. In fact they were seen as a treadmill team just last year. Orlando is in a weird spot because they tanked but didn’t end up with any high-end talent and traded all their picks for Bane. Houston has good young talent but didn’t draft any superstars. They turned their team around by signing guys like Fred and trading for KD. And OKC had SGA. Them being at the bottom of the league isn’t the reason for their turnaround.

Lol lots of excuses. Detroit ist a young promising up and coming team.

Indiana received good talented depth thru the draft.

Orlando is not in a weird spot, they tanked because Paolo and Franz both of then were injured for long stretches several months.

Houston - exactly has good young talent, thos is the thing about draft, it's not always about picking a superstar. What's up with your superstar fetish. They had the 2nd best Western record before KD came.

OKC picked Jalen Williams, Chet etc

U a weirdo

Looks like Sacramento's trying to get Westbrook by any means (dumping Devin Carter), and I was/am a believer in his two-way potential. Anyway, can we get in on this without giving up anything substantial?

The Sacramento Kings continue to "covet" Russell Westbrook, sources told Jake Fischer of The People's Insider.

In order to make room in the backcourt for Westbrook's signing, people around the league see Devin Carter as a likely trade candidate.

Malik Monk was a frequent target of trade rumors earlier this offseason, though the Kings are no longer discussing deals involving the shooting guard.

The Kings signed Dennis Schroder to be their starting point guard earlier this offseason.

Carter averaged 3.8 points and 2.1 rebounds last season for the Kings.

Yes the Simons waive and stretch makes a lot of sense. They save $40M in tax payments this season, and make their team worse to compete for lottery balls.

Wow, that is a rough decision. Talk about giving up on a guy. And to make room for Exum.

I guess it depends on the team evaluation of Chucky Hepburn vs O-Max as prospects. I liked him at the time of the draft….

At least 1 team will probably offer him a fully guaranteed minimum deal, which would beat any 2-way offers.

I hope so, I could see a tanking team take a flyer on him like Brooklyn.

So what’s happening with Giddey, kuminga, grimes and Thomas? Has there ever been a situation like this where players end up taking qualifying offer?

People get so mixed up in the tanking debate it gets silly. I'm with you I think people are sleeping on Detroit.

Yeah the season is almost here, surprised no news has come out for awhile now. Don’t blame the teams for not trying to overpay for these young guys that haven’t proven their worth what they demanding for

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/281792/Talen-Horton-Tucker-Expected-To-Sign-With-Fenerbahce

Talen Horton-Tucker, the player Masai sought in a Kyle Lowry deal to the Lakers is out of the NBA, not even 25 yet. I never understood what Masai saw in him, there is not a lot of space in the NBA for a poor 3 point shooting combo guard, it's insane that the Lakers didn't want to give him up for Kyle in 2021.
