Don't take a few preseasons games as something will change anyone's opinion immediately. Thats why I said Shead will 99.9% be the backup PG to start the year but after that, his play in the regular reason and Chucky'a play in the G League will determine who will be the backup PG as we move forward.

I dont care who it is as long as its the better player right now. We'll see who that is very soon.

Shead wasn't good enough to have it locked down. If Chucky is outplaying him in pre-season games AND practice I think he should at least get a look to start the year.

Maybe not as a full time 18mpg backup, but 8-10 mpg just to see how he translates.

This is kind of my thinking aswell. I think its very possible that Chucky outplays him. Jamal has improved a lot at things he wasn't really good at but his defense(which he was known for) hasn't been as good as expected, year 2 is very important for him. The one thing that Shead definitely has the upper hand in is his leadership qualities. This team doesn't necessarily have that so they may see it as a defining factor

Chucky going to learn and show running the offense with the 905 and dominate before bringing him up. Maybe if a consolidation trade is made by Christmas?

He should be called up for some minutes. He's killing it there. I'd like to see some two guard line ups. It'll boost our shooting and POA defense.

I'm thinking about what his role would be. It'd primary be down to passing, getting steals / forcing turnovers, and hitting the 3. He's doing a good job at all three down there. He's a big reason why they're undefeated as of now.

He's getting playtime that he wouldn't see at the main club.

He'll be called up for injuries but otherwise..

I’ll go on record saying that I don’t think Chucky Hepburn is an NBA player. Doesn’t have enough guard skills at the NBA level. Doesn’t create advantages on offence and isn’t creative in getting his own shot. Great defensively but doesn’t offer anything else and you can’t really play in the NBA anymore if your only skill as a guard is defence.

I probably agree, but I also thought the same of Shead last year and was very wrong.

Patrick Beverley 2.0. Maybe more of a bench combo guard like GPII. If he can hit the 3 over 37% and play lockdown perimeter d, then he can be a useful backup PG. His shot already looks as good as Shead.

38.9% from 3, 7.7 ast to only 2.5 to and 2.7 steals. A/T > 3 and Stl/To > 1 :o

Kris Dunn is starting for the Clippers, Hepburn can be a rotational player next season.

I hate videos like this. Other than the one steal, all this video was focussed on was him chucking shots. Not one example of PG play.

The NBA has convinced all of their newer fans that offense is the only thing you need to do well to play in the NBA.

Hard disagree. He has turned into a good catch and shoot 3pt shooter. He is elite at poa defence. Those two skills will make for a very good career.

I would love to see him get minutes as well (just out of curiosity), but the truth is, they need to save those minutes/ games for.when injuries occur. 2 way players are limited to 50 games.

It's better for him to get tons of minutes down there & be game ready if needed.

I went to the 905 opener and he stood out as too good for the league to me, primarily on the strength of his D. He was just reading and physically reacting faster than everybody else out there. His playmaking also benefits from his quick processing imo.

If his shooting holds up, I think he has an NBA role.

Lawson was the other guy who could clearly do anything he wanted out there. Unfortunately I think he's going to get his shot with another team. If the Champagnies can hang in the league, I think he'll find a place.

He's a certain type of guard, closer to the Alvarado-Caruso mode. These guys can't do any of those things, either, but they are taller and switchable and that makes them good NBA players.

Hepburn can shoot at volume and attack a closeout. His defensive reads are really strong, like Shead needs to watch his game tape to see how it's done. I would say he is going to get a few good chances to stick as a back-up, because the things he does do well are all valued in the league right now. If Davion Mitchell can start for any team in the league than you can't rule out Chucky.

He’s freakin good. Much like Lawson Raptors are going to keep him around rather then let some team pick him up and benefit from our scouting.
