TJ hasn't shown the ability to stay healthy and how long his career will last is a serious question.
Trading Jose sounds like an unnecessary gamble. Trading TJ, however, makes sense. The only problem is that his value has probably declined a fair bit. If TJ can return to the lineup and finish the season strong, the Raps might still be able to get a pretty good player in return for him.

Jose is restricted and on his rookie deal which means trading him this year wouldn't net Colangelo fair market value. Following this season I see a team offering Jose more than Colangelo (or MSLE) is willing to pay. Much like the attempted signing of Chris Duhon a couple of years ago. Either way Jose gets extended as a Raptor, but how long does he stay?
How's this for a scenario? Rasho picks up his player option for the final year. Jose gets re-signed for similar money and the two are packaged together in a deal to Phoenix for Shawn Marion (Which would be Hollinger's small forward upgrade mentioned in his recent chat)

I think Jose would then have the poison pill provision in year 1, no?
Right, if his rookie deal gets extended. If he were allowed to hit the market following the signing deadline and any offer matched this trade scenario would become more likely.
Before I get attacked for offering just two pieces for Marion, things like Phoenix making an early playoff exit (not making the NBA finals) and luxury tax complications should be considered for this to work. It's not just the quality of players being exchanged these days that drive trades.

Not a rookie deal. He was undrafted and signed as a free agent. If he does go, it will be a sign and trade this summer. But with TJ's health indefinitely at risk, I can't see BC letting Jose go. On the other hand, Jose deserves to be a number 1 guard on a team.

I think TJ or Jose should be moved. My fear is that someone's going to offer Jose a boat load of $$ and Toronto will be forced to match.
Then next year we'll have the PG trade watch all season until one of them is let go. If Rasho and Jose can be packaged say for a Camby or AI I think BC really has to consider it.
I love Jose, but unfortunately I think this scenrio will play out.
