Harry Palmer wrote:Oh, there are considerable risks in the move, no doubt. Beyond those I mentioned and you just now did, there's the fact that you're messing around with our best player just as he seems to be getting it in gear.

But IF you had decided to trade him, and needed to get his value back up, I guess this risk is the best course of action. I can't see too many others, unless we write this year off and rest Bosh is his foot or whatever flares up again.

I also wonder whether this move will, according to our overall win-loss record, make us a better team. It would likely improve Bargnani's stats, but would it actually make us a better team? I don't know.

But I agree, Bosh is playing so extraordinarily well it's hard to justify altering his position.

I'm a Bargs supporter, and am willing to exercise my patience in his case.

But Gay was the pick. Another 30 point game for him last night, albeit in a losing cause to James and his 51-point explosion. Gay's scored in single digits only 3-4 times this year, and for those saying he's just piling up stats on a weak team, he's doing so with great percentages. He's still only 21.

Alas, we have Bargnani and I am hoping that he develops into the matchup nightmare we all envision. Hopefully he works on his post-game and interior defense the entire summer and comes back a much-improved player.

Not a perfect example, but what about Tom Gugliotta? He wasn't a top 5 pick, but he went 7th overall (Let's face it, Bargs was going to go in the 5-7 range until we won the lottery.) A similar 4/5 debate with Googs, but I'm not positive if the Bullets played him entirely at the 4 or not. Not between his first and second year like Bargs either, but between his 2nd and 3rd years he appeared to regress before turning into a borderline all-star. However, Gugliotta was traded twice that season, and that likely affected his performance. Maybe it's not that great of an example, but it's the closest I could find.
