I think this is a classic example of the general type of poster we see on this board (and no, this isn't a personal attack, more of an observation).

In the last 2 days James, I've seen you post this, as well as asking why we waived Alvin, but won't waive Garbo.

If you knew how the NBA worked, the cap, and the general rules, you would realize that Joey CANT be sent down to the NBDL. You'd also realize that waiving Garbo/the Garbo Situation is completely different than the waiving of Alvin.

It's unfortunate that alot of people speak up, without knowing the rules/how the game works/etc, as I think it spreads too much disinformation on this board, much of which posters have to filter through to get to the real meat of a thread.

But because Sam and his coaching staff can do a great job of this in practice (which we all now know he wasn't doing because Andrea was being a stubborn horse) I say keep him here, and have him learn his way back into the game, rather than learn the D League, and then come back only to re-learn the NBA.
.

It's a stupid idea on almost every level. Bargnani needs lots of instruction, and touches, to become a good inside player. He needs to learn about rotations, learn about footwork, learn about help defence in a primarily man to man game.

Nobody posts up in the D League. It's all about guards looking to fill the basket to earn a 10-day contract.

And nobody teaches much in the D League. If the minors were known for good coaching, Jamario Moon would have made it to the NBA four years ago.

Since we don't control a D League team, we have no assurance anyone we might send down, now or in the future, will get any instruction whatsoever, or that he'd get the kind of playing time he needs. Why do you think BC is talking about getting a Raptor D-League team in Canada? It's not because Chuck just got his citizenship. You'd want a player like Bargnani to get lots of postups. There is no way that would happen.

This is not baseball with the Instructional League, where young players get to work on specific aspects of their game and try out what they learn in actual games. It's not minor league hockey where a major league team has control over how a player is developed. The one thing the D League doesn't do is Develop.

Just crazy talk from people who don't think things through.

Sending Bargnani to the D-League wouldn't help, it would make things worse. Bargnani must be given a chance to improve, and to ultimately prove himself. Be patient, see what Andrea does with his opportunity with the Raptors. He has talent, but he has to man-up and make improving his basketball game a full-time endeavor.

maybe if he tears up the d-league at his "true position" someone might actually want him in a trade. i'd say give it a shot. colangelo and them already look like some idiots. i doubt throwing him in the d-leage is going to make them look any worse. it'll either leave things the same or better. he'll at least get the opportunity to play through some fouls and bad plays down there.

also, if he can't even play in the d-league then that might be a sign that we need to give up on him.
