Isn't that the exact reason to play a guy?

I'd love to see Rasho start and Bargs come off the bench. Gives us much more solid defense in the beginning of the games, preventing opposing players that have been struggling, an opportunity to get it going early.
Bargs always gives up easy baskets in the beginning of games letting the other teams have confidence early.

Rasho should start.

Yeah and that's why he should be played more, all I was doing was giving my opinion on the over appreciation he gets by the MEDIA.

Rasho's solid. He's not a player that should be getting 5 minutes a game.

 How'd someone not catch that?

Last year he was one of our most consistent guys, and by far our best big-man defender. Not someone who can take over a game, but fundamentally solid.

Remember how he lost all that weight during preseason? He is one hard-working dude; he said he's in better shape than he's been in years.

rasho is sam's sacrificial lamb in the power struggle between management and sam over andrea.......sam has the contract now and is gettin brave with the big boys...there is no reason for sam to not be using rasho more.sam should be slapped for rashos dnp's.

Rasho is a team player who doesn't complain about minutes and is always ready to go when counted upon. Unfortunately, he's becoming more and more situational as time goes on. When the opposing team likes to run he isn't all that useful. He isn't all that useful when the opposition has a bunch of athletes who overwhelm him and grab rebounds. He isn't a great option when the Raptors are looking to score. Really he's only useful against opposing teams who play small-ball and have an offensive C who doesn't play a quick offensive game. He's really effective in those situations, but other than that it's no real shocker that Sam tries out Hump and then goes small ball in most situations when Andrea decides to play horribly.

Rasho would at least box out and help in rebounding and eliminate some of those ridiculous double teams in the post.

rasho is the most under rated player on our roster

he always finds something to do to help the team. i have no idea why mitchell does not use him more, esp against bigger teams.

Leaving aside the Bargnani question, Rasho should be getting Hump's minutes. If Bosh/Bargs is our starting frontcourt, why isn't Rasho the first big off the bench? It doesn't make sense. Rasho instead of Hump could easily have made the difference against Philadelphia.

While a solid post defender, he's not good in certain matchups. Primarily against quicker players. So when Philly went small for most of the game yesterday playing with basically 4 guards, Toronto matched up with Bosh and Center and 4 perimter players themselves.

Plus I'd argue that Hump is as good or better in most situations so if we're going to start Bargs, that's going to leave limited minutes for 1 or both of them.

I don't think that he's underappreciated. He's a solid role player and our best inside defender and most people recognize that. But he still has his limitations which are going to keep him from getting big minutes.

i think rasho is actually a better look than bargnani offensively. rasho can actually get you an offensive rebound. i think i've said this before but i'd rather have one tip in and one tap back from rasho than bargnani scoring ten points on 4/13 shooting.
Sam wasn't the solution, but he wasn't the problem either

I agree that Rasho has an advantage from the efficiency standpoint, but I think that Bargnani's ability to draw the attention of the defense helps everyone else while he's on the floor. Most of the time, teams are still covering him with a big out at the three point line, so he opens up the inside. When he catches the ball inside he is usually doubled immediately; defenders rarely sag very far off of him when he is behind the three point line.

Considering the way he's playing, the respect teams are showing him might not be the optimal defensive strategy. Maybe they just haven't caught up yet. But as long as they are showing him that respect, he is making a fairly significant contribution offensively just through his presence.

Right now, because Andrea is playing so badly I'd say it's a wash. But assuming Andrea should at least shoot a little better than he's doing, I'll take him over Rasho on the offensive end.
