I think that Smith's biggest issue is that he fancies himself a big time scorer when he's clearly not (at least to me). He can do some nice things offensively with his athleticism around the hoop but he's still an bad outside shooter with a very poor shot selection. (Has under 32% eFG% the past 2 seasons on jumpshots yet still hoists up almost 2 3-pointers per game).
That's the difference between Smith and say Andrei Kirilenko. They have very similar skill sets and can both have huge impacts on a game with their athleticism and defense but AK47 fully realizes that he's only going to be a complimentary player on the offensive end.
