The whole money issue is blown out of proportion... if Rasho and his limited minutes were worth the $8 million gamble we took a couple years ago, then a 26-year-old defense/rebound giant in Dalembert is a steal at $10 million per year.

This part really needs to be put in bold for everyone to see.

That said, I don't think that he's untouchable for the Sixers. Unfortunately, I think that they'd be looking for contracts that expire this summer (for max cap space) among other assets.

I have a fear if we acquired Dally he'd end up injured and never play. That said, I still would take a shot on him. He would look nice next to BOsh and also playing with Bargs.

I wouldn't trade him for Bargs though.

Rasho was not making that much his first year with the Raptors. Also, he came with 3 years and $23M left while Dalembert has 4 years and $44M. That is a much bigger risk.

I would easily sacrifice Hump for Dalembert. Not sure who else I would want to throw in there to make it fair(tiptoeing around shipping Bargs out.) But He would look real nice next to Bosh. And regardless of who it is, if you have a decent 5, you are going to pay big money for them.

Well the only way I see this not being completely true is bringing over foreign based dudes who can be had for low cash but are solid vets, like SA has done. If you are looking for a big that has been a part of the NBA salary structure, you're going to pay a premium for size.

I wonder how favorable Daly would look on a move to Toronto, because I think his marketing possibilities would be maximized here. He's a transplanted Canadian, he could take some pointers from Chuck, plug into the MLSE cash making machine and ride his Team Canada status to some very nice, long term coin.

He earned ~7.28M in his first season... not that much of a difference. As for Daly being a bigger risk, I disagree. Young athletic bigs who can run and rebound and play defense are highly valued around the league and can be moved easily if they don't work out. Look at Tyson Chandler's last year in Chicago and the trade to the Hornets.

But you're failing to mention that Dalembert is 4 years younger now than when Rasho was acquired.

So considering that:

A) he's more likely to maintain and even improve on his current level due being much younger
B) subsequently he's far less likely to decline than an >30 Rasho and
C) he's more productive to begin with

Based on all that he should have a contract that is $3 million per year higher. Put another way, we're currently paying Rasho + Dixon the same money.

And the fact that he's signed for 4 more years which happen to coincide right with his age 26-29 (prime) years should be viewed as a positive, not a negative.
