I'd rather have an older team with flexibility than a younger one.

It's disgusting, we're not gonna improve with this attitude, just because we hit more "shats" we can be ignorant.

I completely agree.. even though it might be a front I always get the feeling that Smitch is happy just to win and doesn't care about litle details like if we blew a lead or the team we were playing was mediocre and it was a close game anyway... and that he doesn't fix anything for the next game if that was the case rather than a loss...thats a players mentality, and since Smitch is a former player, thats how he thinks....

I would much rather have the Popovich, George Karl, Phil Jackson style where even after a nice win they still point out how many mistakes they made and be the first to concede that the team played poorly and still somehow won.. Thats the attitude of a perfectionist, and those coaches makes sure those same mistakes won't be repeated... Those guys make sure that their teams don't get too excited about their performances in order to avoid a letdown in the next game, where players relax....exactly what happens to us....they tend to let their guard down because they get lulled into that false sense of security... and Smitch doesn't ride them as hard like he would after a loss, you can tell that from his practice interviews...

I dunno, I get the impression that Smitch seems content to be mediocre and close to .500, and that he feels he's accomplished a lot even though he didn't do much.... Its our players that win or lose the game, Smitch is a non factor...

Sam's not dumb. He doesn't need to devulge anything to the media regarding his teams shortcomings in a loss. It's a stylistic thing that some coaches choose to do and others would rather focus on in practice/tape study.

I mean, what advantage does he gain by saying, "Yeah we won, but Bargs was god awful on the boards and Calderon couldn't guard a city with a citadel against a toddler." There's no strategic advantage from doing something like that. It doesn't motivate his players, it makes him come off like a negative individual and gives the media tons of ammunition.

Sometimes it's better to stand your ground and defend your team in the media and chastise your players performances behind the scenes. Remember, Sam is a players' coach after call.

So, because Sam is a player coach he doesn't need to elaborate on any team's deficiences? I don't think that Sam hides information from the media, because he never has anything to really talk about. Often his game plan is to "make shats" , "Guard x, x, and x(the obvious superstars)", and "play hard nosed defense."

They were too proud of their lucky performance last year, and improvement this year is slowing down. Coach of the year, and extension got to Mitchell's head. Don't forget this guy was crowned NBA's worst coach a few years back.

Smitchell reminds me of Doc Rivers. Good at motivating his guys, but terrible at xs and os in the game. The guy can't make adjustments to save his life.

That's a lot of conjecture taken from how Sam deals with the media and saying that's how he deals with his players. No matter how much access we have to the team, we don't have complete access.

And I guess CB4 mentioning that in practice that they have worked on slipping screens because of how aggressive Boston plays the PnR has nothing to do with Sam coaching his team. Since CB4 said it in practice interview, it must be his idea.

What Sam wants his team to do is play hard every day and execute. I'm not sure how you can get anything different than that.
