1. Kobe
2. CP3
3.LBJ
4.Garnett
5. Stephen Jackson. Trust me, watch a Warrior game...this is the definition of a glue guy. Has the respect of his team mates, makes them all better by example. good percentage shooter with insane defensive intensity. makes the Bay Area a fun place to watch a game. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

I think it has to be between Kobe and Garnett, and both would make great choices.
The main thing similar in both of them is that with out them both teams would be in trouble. If Kobe was to go down...well I think you know how that would go. However even though Garnett has Allen and Pierce they would not be in the playoffs without Garnett. With that supporting cast Allen and Pierce would really not be able to make that team a competitor.
Now the way you pick between Kobe and Garnett in my opinion?? Who has the better team? I think most would agree that the Celtics are certainly the better team, and without those two, both would be equally weak. MY PICK: Kevin Garnett.

Agreed.
However, once the LAL cool off, especially with Bynum out, KG will come out as the clear choice.
Sadly, this is what I think will happen. I think the Celtics' turnaround will largely credited to KG, since he's the focus in Boston for some reason (or at least, that seems to be the perception of the people I'm able to watch on TV), and Pierce and Allen are getting shafted on credit.
I get what KG brings to the team in terms of skill, attitude, etc., but Pierce/Allen are massive contributors too. It's why they call it the Big Three.

No it's not... this is the first year he's actually deserved it.
He's taking less shots, getting his teammates involved more, and as a result they are winning more. He's finally got it figured out.

and besides, the award always goes to a player on a 50+ win team, something that has never happened to Kobe since Shaq left.

I'm often pretty critical of Bosh when he play's poor but he deserves more credit than he's been given after his injury. He's really put the team on his shoulder in recent games. I also disagree that Pierce is so high in the standings. Whats so special about him? If KG is second in the race how could someone on the same team be in eighth. That would leave the rest of the team doing little or nothing to help contribute to a win game in and game out.
Bosh is 13th right now in the MVP race.
Chris' sluggish start to the season really precludes him from being in any MVP discussions. He has, however, been scorching hot as of late; if he can keep this torrid streak going until the All-Star break - and if the Raptors can go on a bit of a run - then we may start to hear some chatter (even though he won't be a legitimate threat to win this year). Bosh needs to put together a complete season and lead Toronto to 50+ wins before he gets any serious consideration.
As for this year? I'll say Kobe, for now. The Notic brought up an interesting point, in that the Lakers came out of the gate extremely strong last year, only to fizzle down the stretch. If - and that's a big if - Los Angeles can earn over 50 wins with that supporting cast, then Bryant wins the crown.
If not, it'll go to Garnett.
